Hey all,
Just got myself a 2nd hand electric aerial, wired it all up properly, connected it to the stereo etc, but it doesn't seem to go up at all.
The fuse for the aerial seems to be connected with the power doors/windows etc. So it's obviously ok because everything else works.
Just wondering what else it could be ?
Stereo picks up the stations well etc, it's just not putting up the antennae and I'm not sure if stereo's have an electric aerial connection and manual one which could be the reason it's not going up.
Any help appreciated as I've got the car apart now and would be good to sort it straight away if possible![]()
most stereos nowadays have an electric antenna wire.. think its blue... or blue/.white.... this could be what your looking for other wise pick up the antenna wire from the stereo loom and connect it to the accessory on the stereo so itll go up when the stereos on and off when off
cheers mate,
might have to leave it for another day I think! maybe for when I install the new stereo I plan to get down the track.
Had the car apart all day doing bits and pieces and I just don't want to play anymore haha
no probs mate - seriously though if u havent bought the stereo yet..... consider the Aerpro Iso cable when you do... ive had all my stereos all wired up before i even pulled the car apart then.. when it comes time.. its a just a simple unplug the old and plug in the new all the fiddly connections are done before u pull the car apart. also if u have steering wheel controls get the swi-pac steering wheel controller and do that same time
sounds like u havent got power 2 ur ariel yet man. how did u wire it up? all ya need it the remote from the unit and it should go up and down. but if u wanna make it move manually ud needa put in a switch. unless ur head unit already has another ariel wire in the loom?

there was already the standard loom for it, so I just connected that up, plugged the aerial bit into the part the previous aerial used (inside the car).
So it should have both power and a connection to the stereo.
Unless perhaps the unit doesnt work, I got it as a spare. I'm sure it would've worked previously, but perhaps it's just not working now.
Dunno and not sure how to test it (still dont have a multimeter)
cheapo multimeter could be your friend in this case mate...
again with this
there are 3 wires black is negative red is positive and white which is switched
when 12v is applies to the white wire the antenna goes up when it's removed it goes down
if your unit doesn't have an antenna output just connect the white wire to any accessory on wire
the antenna will go up and down as you switch the car on and off
That might be a good point.
The only thing I knowingly connected to the stereo was the black antenna cable that picks up signal.
Only other thing I connected was the standard plug, which I don't what what it plugs into and what it doesn't.
Here's a pic.

do you see my post re the 3 wires
its not that hard it's all there in your pic
the white wire makes it go up and down
yes oska, my reply 'that might be a good point' was referring to your post.
I was under the impression it should've all been hooked up already and that I'd just have to plug and play, obviously that's not the case and the douche that had the car before me has set up the stereo (among other things in the car), in a very shit way (even installing a manual aerial, with one of the shitest mounting jobs I've ever seen).
I'll pull the stereo etc out another time to connect it up to the white wire and make sure it's done properly, most probably when I install a new deck.
Thanks for the assistance people.
there shouldnt be too much on the inside that the eletric antenna plugs into.. maybe the BCM but sheesh.. why would ya... id hedge more toward a fuse fault but firstly buy yaself a cheapo volt meter.. where in perth are ya???..... id check first that those wires indeed have power getting to them then work back toward the stereo side ... worst comes to worst its not hard to run some new cable from antenna to stereo
nope not at all, so it's not like the motor was struggling.
I think the white wire sounds like it could be the go, but I'll also have to check for power.
Yeah keep us posted Mirkz,
I only listen to my ipod through my head unit in my car, and i look like a spack driving round with my aerial up.
So im thinking of cutting this white wire, but need to know if it definitely would work or not (:
check the motors working by hooking it straight 2 ur car battery (thats if u take the arieal out again) following oskas instructions then id say ud need 2 follow the looms wiring 2 find ur remote/arieal wire from ur head unit 2 get ur 12V source.
