    Default Shuddering Under Brakes

I brought a 2001 Berlina had a insprection done all ok.

Ever since ive had the car it shudders under brakes so i assume the disc need machining.

Does anyone reconmend a place to get the disc machined in Adelaide ?

Or am i better off getting new disc as in cost ?

What is a decent set of disc worth ?

    Cheers

Discs have a minimum thickness that is usually stamped on them, something like 25mm or so.

As long as theres enough meat on them so they are still above the minimum after skimming then skimming is fine.

Cheapest way would be to remove them yourself and take to a brake shop to be skimmed.

If it was the bushes wouldnt the car either pull to one side or be noisy over bumps or rough roads ?

How do you check to see if it could be the bushes

No... mine where rooted and all it did was wearout the tyres quicker than normal as the alignment was wrong.

Checking the Top Strut - Lift the car so the front wheels is off the ground, Put on stand(cause your going to need the jack again...),Take the tyre/wheel off, , now place the jack on the lower arm(just under the strut tower knuckle, not the disc) and lift while watching the strut top in the engine bay(Easy with a mate...) If it moves up/down more +1cm they are rooted.

Front Radius Bush and/or Zbar - See Here...

Rotors/Disc - If the discs are not @ minimum thicknes get them machined but try and get NEW pads, don't use the old ones. If you need to replace the rotors definitely get NEW pads.

Ye you do often get all that but it's not always easy to feel. One thing you can do is see if your wheels move back and forward when you brake. You probably need someone to stand and watch. Not exactly sure which method would work.maybe put the car in park and press the brake a few times.or maybe jack the car up completely and do the same thing.
