Guys ,
hard to afford 95 fuel for me VT .. and looking at putting 91 in but my local servo didn't have it any more, there are only 98 , 95 and E10 ..
so, to put E10 in stock VT should be ok? will it damage anything in the long run?
or should i put E10 every 2nd tank and using 95 in between?
Cheers
VTs are said to E10 compatable, i think its pretty much and injected car. I use E10 in my daily, never had a problem. I do fill up where ever i see the old 91 tho.

At 43 a wealth of info , but still heaps to learn
Thanks guys, i'll put E10 in me next tank
cheers
91 not available??
We have it everywhere in SA, thought 91 was the most common?
nah
91 is getting very scarce in NSW
been a push to have E10, 95 and 98 only
I started this thread ages ago: The E10 debate
Has a link to a study done on E5 and E10 fuels. It suggested that E10 can cause long term damage to some cars, everyone's got there own opinions. My opinion is steer clear of it unless your car is made for E5/10/85 fuels. But objectively, most cars with injection can handle it, but there is likely to be diminished lifespan on anything that comes into contact with Ethanol.
If you want read the study and see what you think. I steer clear of E10, mostly cause my engine has some k's on it and I'm trying to keep her going.

I've used E10 for as long as I've had the car, about 10 years. Never missed a beat, never had any problems. She's pushing 230,000kms and purring like a kitten.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ i even run it in my old toyota carby ute as well an she runs like a champion on it has done for yrs , matter a fact it runs like a bag of shit on normal 91

I'm tempted to try a tank of E10. But in my mind I fill it up, turn the ignition and then I immediately explode taking my small rural town with me.

i imagine that by the time you notice any ethanol related damage to fuel lines and injectors your car will already be on the scrap heap
I use E10 in my daily, no problem at all.
I used E10 once, made my car gutless and uses more fuel.
Why not switch to 98? You get more power and uses less fuel over the same distance. Works out roughly to be the same price per KM travelled.
that may be the case in SA but here e10 is as low as 1.32
98 is as high as 1.50-1.60 or worse
with that margin its hard to recommend 98
Ahk, did realize that it was like that, i would never use E10 in my car tho...
just put E10 in today, cost about $20 less than the 95 last tank, will report it in about a week and will check the km too if i'll get the same distance, more or less
Cheers
Do use E10 in your car it will not damage it.

Its more like $0.12 a litre more expensive for 95 thaqn E10 and 98 is more again. 91 unleased is usually about $0.03 a litre more expensive than E10 and 91 is being phased out in NSW.
The cost difference between E10 to 91 makes the E10 more expensive to use as prices go up as the % diffenence gets smaller and would need to be about $0.10 at a pump price of about $1.20 a litre.
If your car doesn't get better mileage on premium fuel compared to 91 to the point it offsets the extra cost then it will be cheaper to use E10.
As far as damage to the engine, E10 hasn't hurt my VY, never had an adverse effect on my VN and even if some parts wear out slightly faster most people will have sold the car beforehand.
when I have used e10 the car was more sluggish.

Don't bother. Looks cheaper but 9/10 it isn't. Seen it with a few cars the km's to L's goes down.
Welcome to the internet where people have opinions that you might not like
MikeCuzzy, I looked at the report you mentioned and when I saw that the test Commodore (2003-5) had a carburetor, I dropped it. Just made me think "what else did they get wrong?" as for price difference, Cabramatta road Bonnyrigg in Sydney, E10 $1.27, 95RON $1:38.9, WHAT???
