I got a S2 VT S-Pack, the other day at the lights stopped it just died randomly never done it before at all, so at first i thought ahk just a glitch all good started her up and everything was fine, few days went past and it did it as i was driving, like dies for 1 second n came to life again by itself, its done this 5-6 times now in the past few days from all different speeds 50-90.
one time i pulled over to call my mechanic and let him no what is going on and as i was just sitting there in Drive foot on break it died again, then wouldn't start so left her to sit for 5 mins then tried again and all good?
Now iv been thru a few things and its not...
Fuel filter, fuel pump, battery, bad connections to battery air flow meter is all good plugs are in all and not moving around, it went in today for a service etc and he plugged his scantool thing into it and it had no error codes, he has replaced something under the coil pack, cant remember what it is called now been driving a bit tonight and all seems ok but i will give it a few days...
So anyone else have any ideas on what this could be?? i use normal 91 fuel and every now and then put 98 thru her, i stay away from that ethanol crap never used it, car has done 178***kms and serviced every 5000 without fail.
Thanks everyone for taking time to read!!!![]()

Yeh iv been told that as well, unless this is located under the coil-pack, sorry i could sound stupid but still learning lil bits etc about all this
Any other ideas lol
Thanks everyone!
Check all ur wiring looms that run from the engine bay 2 the ECU. mine did the exact same thing and all it was, was a corroded wire in the engine bays loom that sits up the top on the drivers side (theres 3 that looks the same side by side). water got under the taped up wires and slowly started corroding away and my symtoms got worse n worse like urs until that wire finally let go and i wasnt able 2 start the car. The tech 2 unit pick that up.

The board under the coil packs is the DFI Module. Your problem sounds like the crank angle sensor starting to fail. It's behind the harmonic balancer.

Yep that's the one DFI module he replaced, hasn't done it since which is great!
But thanks for everyone's advice and tips! great help!
Did it again last night!! going back to mechanics tonight - was thinking of getting him to replace the crank angle sensor as well as a new fuel filter and leads as well?
I hope i can get this sorted out!!! and other ideas of what he should replace??
cheers peeps![]()
Ok he replaced the DFI,also get the coils replaced aswell
Could it just be the alternator ?
it wont b ur leads, fuel filter or alternator as some1 sugested as its an intermitten problem. if these failed it would b constant. but if ur fuel filter hasnt been done in over 30k kms then it wouldnt b a bad idea 2 do that. leads can last over 150k kms so every 100k kms doesnt hurt
If its ur CAS wen it cuts out and doesnt wanna start, pour some Hot water on it and if it fires up straight away its ur CAS if it doesnt its somthing else. Dont 4get even these new parts can fail from new so dont rule that out either.
Did u check ur engine bays wiring looms? mine had this problem with the previous owner 4 most of its life and i bought the car with 160k kms and was back n forth at holden that many times apparently and they couldnt even pick it up until i took it 2 some1 that knew wat they were looking 4.

Checked all wiring looms etc - all in good form, had CAS done and the cam angle sensor done, was all good for a bit, then when i drove off the bloody thing over heated, think the thermo got stuck but that issue seems to be OK now, but Saturday night took off from a mates place, and she just started dropping in and out as i was driving so it was like having a flipping jerking session :Sso who knows now its going back in tonight for a few days, anyone else got any ideas on what the flip is going on??
I forgot to mention that i did buy one of those eBay performance memcals, few weeks ago, put it in for 5 mins and didn't like the sound of the motor so took it out and put standard one in... could of this ####ed my whole computer up????
cheers everyone for your input
Any more ideas? lol :S
cheers peeps
how did u check the wires? checking the resistance of each wire is the best way which is wat the tech 2 unit does 2 find the fault.
