Default How can i improve my VT's handling ?

    Guys ,

wanna make the VT handle better , lots of body rolled even when changing lanes !

how to improve it ? already have new struts , new springs , both front and rear , few new bushes

looking at rear sway bar but seem to be a BIG job to change it !

should i get bigger rear swap bar ? what size ?

    cheers

Try a heavier front swaybar first. most of your cars weight is at the front. A heavier rear bar will make it handle worse because the back will want to step out if you do any hard cornering.

if you don't already have one, I'd chuck a strut brace on as well. I put one on and made a big difference to the amount of body roll around corners, and cheap.

Just asking instead of making a thread somewhere else.

Don't the strut braces require holes to be drilled in VT or is that only for the ones bought from Holden?

You gotta drill holes to fit a strut brace (holden or aftermarket) to a vx, So i would think the vt would be the same.

WTF sway bars have everything to do with how much body roll a car has. Did you mean strut brace????

Well just throwing this in, I installed a Whiteline strut brace in the old VR as the Strut towers where starting to crack. anyway i did a before and after test, and found after installing it the nose just pointed into corners so much better, but then found the ass hanging out much easier lol, they do work, i only installed it to try and stop the flex in the towers to prevent further damage.

Might want to not go around corners at 80kmh then. Or perhaps do something with the rest of your busted suspesion if you're have such a drastic change in handling dynamics after fitting something that aids in chassis flex...

Funny you automatically assume that all the suspension is busted, had everything replaced 10k ago before the brace bar was fitted, Rear/Front shocks & Springs & all sway bar bushes etc all brand new parts.
Again, Its a VR, Alot has changed over the years between the cars, and was fitted to prevent further damage to the cracking body filler around the strut towers.

strut bars shouldn't do much except increase your rice

the front end of the VT VX is reasonbly square and true as it is

    sways bars = yes

    strut bars = rice

If it effected the handling to the point where it easily induced oversteer, Something was seriously wrong. They DO NOT effect it that drastically. No ammount of self delusion will make it any different.

AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR I'm a re - tard! I swear I read you typed in swaybar ####### ###### and there's no excuse, nobody even said swaybar till then on this page

Definately 'the package' has a better overall result and heavy duty swaybars would lessen the body roll of the vehicle, if he's fitted decent springs and shocks.
    So I takeback my comment.

Soop I did add a sprinkle of lead to my egg's this morning. Tasty sh#t. :P

Im surprised my screen didnt melt from all the flaming ive read in this thread!.

@ OP, a simple change of tyre will help to eliminate "body roll" to be as minimal as possible. it will always be there.

lower the wall of the tyre eg from 65 down to 45 (eg 17" Rims)

Then compliment it with your struts and springs you say youve updated with and you will be set on your way.

    another suggestion, slow down? lol
