Buying the springs off ebay and getting a mate to install em, my dilemma howerver is:
Is it worth paying the extra 100 for front springs as well? I like the idea of having the car on a slight angle however if it affects handling and fuel consumption of the car i will get all done. can i get some clarification on this?
Secondly i take it SL's are legal on a VX, but because im lowering the car do i need to get new shocks? if so are they really nessacary because im a jew hahaha.
Thanks
a jew lol,i havnt heard that since high school about 10 years ago, anyway it will look better on SL's alround but its up to you,it should effect anything to much handling wise i guess.
as for shocks, you dont need to replace them but they will flog out quicker and wont ride as good
bump...............
As above. If you got the cash it's worth while, otherwise just leave it
My VT has SL on the front and SSL on the rear, Looks great but is very Illegal... My shocks lasted about 9 weeks before they started weaping and about another 3 weeks before they were f#*ked.. Plus get urself a camber castor kit... So yeh if i was gonna do it again i would do the whole kit to start with springs shocks and camber castor kits....
ended up getting VS super lows for the rear, i was told they are inbetween SL and SSL for VX-VT
Winnning!
Losing!
You now have springs designed for a lighter car and this will affect handling plus the springs will sag quicker with time.
I don't get it, I thought you were buying these springs new? Why would you buy springs that aren't designed for your car when ones that are would be the same price?
Even with ####ed shocks the handling is the same?
I wanted lower than SL but wanted to stay legal so i have SL but for VS....
the weight difference is around 100kg.... thats a passenger. shit man
Just saying, you where buying brand new springs and you bought ones not for your car.
Plus there are other options. Different brands get different spring heights.
SL Pedders are lower than SL Kings but are still designed for the weight of the car.
You did also ask how it will affect handling in your original post. So I assumed you where concerned about handling, clearly you are not.
Finally, if your shocks are ####ed, wouldn't it be a better idea to replace instead of compounding the issue with incorrect springs?
haha thanks mate i love it.
Jester, i know what you mean, but im just stating the handling is the same with the car lowered from what ive felt and seen so far.
I couldnt just replace the shocks as we found them when putting the new springs in and had already been to repco to get the springs and cbf going back that day. (they dont do pedders) A mate installed them gets cost price as he works there and builds his own cars so i kinda trusted his judgement. Hes getting the price of the shocks today

Thanks mate, im actually happy as it gives me a reaosn to get proper sports shocks haha, that and a 4 point camber kit
Sitting the car down at the rear makes em handle like shit,my young blokes got a mate who has his set like that, and its a bagga to drive now,it was a bloody good car before they did this to it,it handled and drove good and they killed it.. I just dont get how they think it looks good lower at the rear,pff... You need the proper rake angle amongst other things to get a car to handle properly, this usually means sitting them flat or level front to rear,or slightly lower at the front..Id like to see one of these young blokes try to save it if it got into a slide with a bit of speed up,it would most likely go into a big "tank slapper" and then into a complete loose..Its dangerous to have a car hanle like this. All new cars have understeer purposely dialled into them as its easier to get out of trouble for the average driver in a car that understeers...
down the track ill lower the front.... but i dont drive like a ######## anyway so i have nothing to owrry about
I did what they said, i went super lows? and im getting new shocks and camber kit next derp.
You used Superlows from a VS, you clearly state that you have a VX.
Two totally different cars. you might as well have used the daewoo springs. The VS springs have a different spring rate to suit the size and weight for the car. Thats why they sit lower in the VX, because they're being compressed by the weight!
You were worried about the handling of the car yet you only lowered ther rear? *herp*
Have you concidered how this will effect the braking ability of the car?
Its people like you that give every other commodore enthusiast a bad name.
If you lot can't post in this thread without insults and name calling, I will close the thread and infact people!
He said he's going to address the shocks and even though the VS springs are a stupid idea, it's not as bad as some of the shit other people do on here.
Just because there are some COMPLETE retards posting on here, doesn't excuse those who manage to get out of bed without slipping in a puddle of dribble.
Wrong and dangerous is still wrong and dangerous.
Soop give me one incident where VS springs have gone wrong in a VT or a VX? Its not a big deal. you just like starting trouble.
R.I.P Brocky
First time for everything isn't there.
Why would you use VS springs when there is springs easily availible to do the job properly. Using VS springs is EXACTLY the same as using chops!!!
i put ssl's in my comodores front and rear and i dont get hassled by the police
i drive like a normal human being lol
