today i had my exhaust done its a supercat twin 2 1/2 cat back only cost $420 installed
sounds nice and deep (my cars manual) i don't think there is too much drone,
the service was good, in and out in 45mins
the place is Northen car care in Thomastown settlement rd in melb ph94653211
sorry mods if this is not allowed
I agree. I the bought same exhaust from them & had it delivered to northern Victoria for $384.00 within 1 day of purchase. It only took 45mins to fit it myself on my Calais auto & it too sounds great with little to no drone.
yeh im happy as with it
Super Cat systems have a very restrictive kiss pipe at the front, after running it for a few days look at it and you will see all the paint burnt off it at the kiss pipe, it gets very hot there as it restricts the flow.
But as you said, it is a cheap system.

dont buy off the shelf stuff if you want performance. simple.
if you dont care about performance and just want it a bit louder then i dont see why these cheap systems would be a problem
Going where no late model stato/caprice has gone before.... GAME ON!!
No, it has nothing to do with two hot pipes touching each other. Two things at the same temperature touching each other will not increase the temperature, it will still stay the same. Pour boiling water into another pot of boiling water and it's still boiling water. It doesn't vaporize because it's suddenly hotter.
The only reason that spot is hotter is because it is restrictive.
Makes sense, i got confused with two heat sources heating a specific area faster than one source.
So from your experience, why are these any different than any other X pipe? The X is still 2.5 inches like the other off the shelf ones isnt it? Is the X at a different, more acute angle causing more friction generating the extra heat

They're not X-pipes. They're 30degree bends cut in half and welded together. Acheives nothing but fooling idiots and making the exhaust sound like shit.
so pritty much every1 is saying to cut the 'kiss' bit out and replace with a true 'x' pipe
a well placed H pipe or none at all would be better

like the H thats is on the stocker? and sorry i wasn't tryen to start a whats better thread, just wanted to put it out there thats it was cheap im starten to build a first house and i don't have much $$ to play with and i wanted some sound out of it
Just cut the Xpipe out and put normal pipe in place of it. Sounds heaps better.
in what way will it sound better? deeper louder?
It will sound more refined, you will get a crisper note out of it.
A true X pipe is the same diameter throughout the complete X.
That and its actually designed to aid flow. Not just an expansion chamber to create a butt load of turbulance.
Sounds like another one of those threads where the advice wont be taken again. Every exhaust thread on here ends up the same "I want something different." "I've got the cheapest heap of shit like everyone else"
Balance exhaust gas pulses.
Not real fussed on them, I've built a few twin systems now and never put one in, they still sound and go great.
Owners are happy, thats all that matters
I reckon they make V8's sound like six bangers.
Ours sounds like a V8, but then it doesn't have any mufflers, just the X pipe.
Hmm I should clarify.
The "Xpipes" used in cheap shit systems make v8's sound like a V6. I've only ever heard a magnaflow X pipe on a HQ statesman, and well Its hard to kill the lope from a 5ltr.
I've got a H-pipe as well.
I think they sound way better then an X-pipe.
