Hey again guys, Firstly i own a series 1 VX Commodore Spac V6 Sedan and i have a few question that i would post all together rather than start heaps of posts.... OK here goes...
#1. I had a 1 window speedo cluster in there and now got a 3 window VX calais black back cluster, all works great except airbag light is on and beeps everytime i start the car(dident before), can this be fixed???
#2. I have a 3 button key remote thing and when i lock/unlock the car it doesent beep the horn, is this normal? normaly they beep once for lock and twice for unlock or something like that. Can i make mine beep somehow?
#3. I was thinking about getting my ecu tuned /flashed whatever its called, I heard that it can be done on the VT but cant be done on the VX, is there anyway to get it done on the vx?(brisbane) and sorta quickly as i need my car daily for work, is it worth doing to a standard V6?
#4.Can the headlights be removed without removing front bumper? some say yes some say no..anyone done it and know for sure?
#5. Thinkin about getting them MACE 12mm plenum spacer + 25mm manafold spacer, They any good on a stock V6? If i was to get 1 of them only, wich one would be better? anyone got them on and thought they were pretty good?
#6, Been looking at high ratio rockers, Are they good for all round power? or just for power over 4000rpm, what are the best ratio for Vx V6 standard? eg 1.9.1 or 1.98.1 or whatever they are...cant think off hand..
#7. My temp gauge sits just below half wich i know is normal, but no matter how hot it gets it will not go any higher, I use the digital temp gauge and that works fine, i had it upto 115C before but the temp gauge dident move at all! never does no matter what!, it will slowly rise up to temp but never higher...is this normal? does it need to get extreamly hot like over 120C to start to move higher??
Thats about all i can think of right now... i have tried serches for the answers but never can find a real proper answer...
prob stupid questions but iv been lookin for a wile with no luck...
Thanx for all your help..

number 1: yes it can be fixed, just means if you are in an accident there is a chance your airbags wont deploy, and then you wont get insurance coverage, i got mine fixed at Holden for $100.
number 4: not to sure about getting them out with the bar on, but just take it off makes everything easier and you wont damage it trying to rip your lights out.
thats all i got, hope others can help

As said, air bag light needs to be reset, it probably could have been avoided had you disconnected the battery before removing the cluster.
As far as I know the bumper needs to be removed to access the lower headlight retaining bolts.
MY RIDE
I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
#2 The VX Doesn't beep when you lock/unlock. I know the VZ could be set up to beep through the trip computer, but not sure about the VX, never tried! Figured it would just p**s me off if it beeped everytime.
#4 The headlights can be removed without removing the bumper, takes a bit of manipulating and fiddling but it can be done. I have done it to mine!
#3 You can get the ecu tuned on the ecotec engines, but the increase in performance is massive. You would probably be able to notice it, but you'd have to figure out if the $$ vs KW gain would be worth it to you.
#7 Unless the car is in danger of over heating, the temp guage VERY rarely even hits half way. You can get it tested by someone with a tech2 system to make sure it does go up all the way if that gives you piece of mind.
Hope that helps.

Thanx heaps for the replys!!... I did disconect the battrey before i removed the cluster.. i always diconect battrey for doing anything wit the electrics. bit of a downer that it doesent beep when u unlock/lock, i know it would get annoying but it would just be nice to have the option...as for the temp gauge, when i go into the needle/lights test thing in the secret menu it goes up to half way so i guess its working ok, i just thought it would be a bit more reactive to the temp because +20Deg and -20Deg is a far bit for it to not move at all...
I will definetly look in to the ecu tuning a bit more!
Again thankyou for your replys..very good help...
Take it to any mechanic with a Tech 2 who will perform a reset for you. As long as you have no issues with your SRS system, all should be fine. If you have SRS errors they will be able to tell you what the errors are.
Commodores don't do that.
It can be done on the VX. Not 100% sure but I think the difference is the VT's have a removable chip the VX's you have to send the whole ECU away to be flashed. I believe they're good for fuel economy and better responsiveness.
No.
Apparantly increases torque and power down low in the rev range. If you're going to do one, may as well do both while you're there.
Not too sure on this one I'm looking into it myself lately.
Your temperature fluctuates as you drive. Stopping at lights, hitting higher speeds, giving it a bit of shit, fans kicking in and out, water moving around the system ect ect ect. The computer keeps the needle in the one spot as it slowly fluctuates and only moves it up if it's creeping unusually. Otherwise your temperature needle would be up and down like a whore's drawers.
