Hi guys,
Finally decided to upgrade from the old VN V6. Going to get a VX SS 6 Speed manual. Would like to get one with 150 000 kms or below.
What price do you think i should pay ?
What problems should i look out for and might go wrong after purchase ?
How bulletproof/tough is the gearbox/drivetrain in them?
Cheers in advance.
Dave
Can't vouch for a manual one but I picked up my VXII SS auto in mint condition with factory red leather and 69,000kms for $11,000 3 months ago.
im not complaining about the price i paid for mine.. its the fact that i could have bought a v8 easily :P
Thanks for the input guys.
I have come accross a VX2 with 159 k 6 speed ( with apparently a 3 year warranty. Will need to check it out)
for $12990. Was going to trade in VN and maybe offer 11k.
What are your thoughts?
Should i be worried about a clutch with that amount of kms or i guess it depends on who has been driving it.
Thanks in advance for advice.
Cheers
Dave
i brought mine a year ago, imo they are worth around $12,500-$13,500
i paid 12 500, 102 000km, 6 speed, red, vx clubbie wheels, full hsv stainless exhaust off sv300 and hsv hornpad, new key and 10months rego, also road worthy.
had one tinnnny dint bar that perfect. i was lucky, still got it now but its got 120 000km, and been fiddled around with, otr real exhaust mafless etc.
Things to look for:
Rear main seal leaks
Engine noises. LS1's are always going to make noises, but should be able to tell normal noises to abnormal
Engine oil usage, this will be hard to diagnose without owning the car
Supension bushs. Rear subframe ones and the front top mounts tend to go first
Differential noises, and drivetrain excessive clunking
Thats all i can think of, but should be a good initial guide and more ideas come through.

Can anyone recommend someone in Silverwater/Parrmatta area that can do inspection
on it for me to make sure no major issues like gearbox/engine problems and drivetrain excessive clunking
issues. I have driven one once but would not really no what normal sounds vs abnormal is.
Thanks again.

Mine was owned by an elderly women from new, drove it to church and the shops. She wanted 14k for it but flashed 11k and she didn't argue.
I just got mine, one owner, six speed VXII SS. Bought it off my neighbour stock as a rock for $15,000 with 70k on the clock. He was offered $16,500 but he'd already promised it to me.
Whoever said that commodores in Victoria are more expensive is dead right, I hated looking on carsales interstate at all the bargains. I still did well considering the condition of the car.

i personally think if you can spend more money go for a later ls1 as they usually have a lot less problems
