Sounds like the thermostat is stuck open, but most engines eventually warm up even with it stuck, if you stop and wait for the temp to rise then start driving again will it stay in the normal range or drop back down again?

stuck open thermostat. replace it and flush the coolant while you're at it. mine was doing this exact thing when I first got it.

Ehh not sure. Running cold would have to be better than running hot... Not sure if it would do any damage. Soop?

Bad for engine as until the engine is at normal operating temp engine wear and tear is at its greatest.

Dont worry too much, its not as if the engine is tearing itself apart.

That's the thing though, it won't warm up because your thermostat is stuck open - thus allowing coolant to flow through the engine ALL the time.
Normally it opens and closes when the engine reaches a certain temp.

Its kind of NO thermostat at all, if you are sure nobody played with last repair then you have problem with it need to change, Most of them stuck closed not open, If so then the thermostat ran normally in summer , but in winter is so bad since it would wasting more gas with engine effected either

or the plastic seal around outside is perished a little bit, same prob with mine running cold. if your car hasnt had a flush for a while be ready for other parts in your cooling system to leak as flushing will remove small bits of build up that will dislodge and then the water pump, radiator will start to leak! completely your choice though, you may not have any problems at all.
