Hi all,
I attempted to change my front rotors and pads today and i have a bit of a problem mostly my fault. Let me know what you think it could me im stuck...
Well i had taken both wheels, calipers and everything off the rotors, then i took both rotors off. I then put the new rotor on one side only and put the caliper back on with the new pads and tightened it all up.
I then for some reason went to pump the brakes, not realising that the other caliper on the other side was off the rotor and didnt have any pads in it at all, when i went around to that side one of the pots on the brake was pushed really far out and there was brake fluid all over the ground ( a fair amount, although there was 1/2-3/4 still in the master cylinder). It looked like a bit of the plastic seal around the pot was out so i pushed it back in as best as i could with a flathead screwdriver and pushed the pot back in with a clamp as usual.
I then put the pads in and new rotor in and put them together and wheels on.
When i depress the brake now it goes in way to far, like feels like it isnt doing anthing untill it gets right to the back almost against the floor......what is my problem? is it because the pot had been pushed out there is air in the lines or is it the seal???? Because the car still stops but you just have to press the pedal really far in. I'll be taking it to the mechanic tomoz first thing but just want to see what people think before?
Thanks everyone tell us what ya think, hope you get a good laugh at my crappy mechanic skillshaha
thanks mate, ill go down to super cheap auto tomoz morning and get some fluid and do it first thing....i skipped over that link cause it was vs but it answered everything.
thanks heaps mate!
