Thread: Fuel Gauge stuck on full

    Default Fuel Gauge stuck on full

    Hey guys
    So the vt was filled to the top on saturday and mums been driving it since Saturday
    And it's still shows full and still shows 460 kms on the computer,
    What should I do ?

    put the cluster into test mode and it should reset the fuel gauge aswell

    hold up and mode while you turn the key on then press mode to flick through them

    If that doesn't work, It is possible that the sender has become unplugged or is not getting any power... Unfortunately the tank has to be removed to check the plug on top of the tank. Im not sure if there are any fuses you can check

    my mates vt has done this ever since the fuel pump was changed, we tried test mode and it didnt work, I think its a faulty sender

    The gauge will read full if there is no signal from the sender.. I would say he has bent the float arm sideways and the contact is no longer connecting with the sender windings

    I've done this. Replace the fuel pump with a new unit from holden. Today holden only sells the fuel pump and the sender unit as one unit. If you replace it with a used one you could have the same issue. Mine was replaced at a auto electrician for about 300. It's a hard job at home to do.
