hi guys im going to sydney soon and i changed the radiator hoses yesterday they werent needed but i did them anyway plus a coolant change ... the problem is i am confused as to how much water should be in the top pipe and im not sure the top pipe is full enough when the car warms up .. i drove to caloundra and backtoday no probs and the car stays well with in temp range prob just over the cold mark and just under half way i bled the system .. aswell but im worreid its going to over heat some where ... i know the thermostat is working i boiled it on the stove to see if it opened and it did
also i can pinch the hose to make the insides touch each other after its cooled down a bit but not so much when its running and at norm temp .... is this normal? after its cooled down should there be any pressure like there would when its at running temp?
The cooling system pressurises as it heats up so that part of it is normal.
If you bled the system and the expansion tank is not empty after it has been driven, and the temperature was normal, then I would say everything is hunky dory.
thanks for your help the reason im asking is becuase i dont remember the hoses being so soft under normal operating conditions .. i just had a look at my neighbours vt he pulled up and his hoses where quiet soft aswell pinchable together after being driven and he seems to think im worrying aobut nothingone question when i rev the car with the raditor cap off the water gets sucked down into the radiator and thats normal aswell .? sorry if they seem stupid questions my brain is quiet bad at remembering things after a recent brain operation
