    Default VTII handbreak problem

    Hi all
    my handbreak is gone n i just jack up my car tonight i found that the cable to the right rear wheel move but there is not handbreak on that side and on the left the cable only move by no more the 1-5mm is it cus of the cable need to be replace??
    i have a wagon and i not too sure how to replace the whole thing tho

    Unless the cable is damaged, there is no need to replace it. It only sounds as if adjustment is required, first take off the rear discs and check the brake shoes then adjust then adjust the cable its self...The work shop manual outlines the whole procedure.

    It can be adjusted from either at the hand brake end or the rotor end .At the handbrake end slide the drivers seat all the way back and pull back the lower end of the handbrake cover to reveal the adjusting nut .
    With the disc , remove one of the rubber plugs inbetween the wheel studs . Then turn the disc around until the hole where the plug was is at its lowest piont and insert a small screwdriver into the hole and turn the adjusting wheel till the shoes just touch then back it off a little .
