what are the best h4 headlamps i can buy for my vt.my lenses are slightly crazed but crystal clean and though they are ok i frequently see cars as old as mine with lights that light up a lot more road (ps i clean my lenses with brasso.it's cheap and simple to apply and polish off )
Those cars with more light are probably running HID kits, which are illegal anyway. I like Philips Bluevision, nice white light and look great, plenty of light on a good day, a little worse than more yellow lights in the rain.

I like to be able to see where where I am going and have used high wattage globes in the past (no more) which now seem to be illegal in vehicles used in suburban areas. I just rely on good quality bulbs now at 60/55watt and find them good even when driving to Brisbane from Sydney. My main gripe is when some dill comes over a crest or around a bend with high wattage lights, especially on high beam and blinds me. Even on low beam, some headlights still seem too bright. I wonder how many cars have gone bush because the driver could not see where he/she was going due to over bright lights in oncoming cars. Disrespect, could not care less about other road users.
You know I heard there's an amazing new feature called search. Now I could be wrong but you can actually find threads about this exact topic. Amazing right.
Welcome to the internet where people have opinions that you might not like
as for what lights, may i recomend phillips +80's, they worked a treat in my old landcruiser without the recomended harness upgrade so i reckon they would work wonders in a vehicle that has better lights to begin with,
now as for people bagging hid users for having "high wattage" globes,, do some research, they run alot, and i mean alot less power than a halogen globe, it's just they do what their name suggests, High Intesnity Discharge, they use a gas to emit the light not just power through a tiny little filament, also they glow alot cooler so don't damge the lense of your headlight, or for those people (no i'm not one of them) with led DRL's put into theyre headlight assemblies it means less led's will be destroyed due to heat
just my 2c

thanks guys.there's nothing wrong with my lenses other than very slight crazing which isn't what my query was about.it seems as though most of the cars with superior lights may be illegal anyway but what i was after was simply the best brand and as acardomy wrote some bulbs will give a better general light but may suffer a bit in the wet.i think that my lights are as good as they've ever been but i thought that perhaps better bulbs are on the market that i'm not aware of --still in 65/55.just to throw a comment to the idiots you guys were talking about ,i travel over 50,000 ks a year which can include a couple of return trips from brisbane to darwin but the people that piss me off are on multi lane roads when they sit just behind you in the outside lane with their lights glaring in your mirror.
i'm still going to check out the legality of the hid kits that were mentioned(i may be a dumb ass but i've not heard of them)& also the phillips +80s cos perhaps the lights that blind us may have a lot more to do with crappy, selfish adjustment than wattage.i don't know but at least now i have something to check out.cheers
HID kits are illegal in any car not fitted with them from factory. Having said that, I've never heard of anyone getting done for having them, THAT, has them properly adjusted. If you don't want to draw serious attention, than a set of projector headlights are a must, as well as proper adjustment. As the name suggests, projects light project the light onto a limited area, so will give you more distance and intensity on that spot. Whereas the reflector lights you have from factory will put a lot of lights everywhere with a larger amount being concentrated on one area.
With HIDs you will still blind people when you come over hills and the like (hence why factory HID equipped cars come with an auto-leveling feature), but with the projectors and proper adjustment you will not irritate people when on a level road.
In saying all this, just projectors lights alone will be a benefit.
