Ok so just got a phone call from Mrs Macca. Shes gone to leave work in her VU SS and she cant unlock it. The remote wont unlock the doors and she said she cant unlock it even using the key in the door. My first thought was the remote has died but even if the remote died wouldn't you still be able to unlock it using the key in the door? Or am I wrong and the remote needs to be functional for the key to work in the door?
Suggestions? lol
She probably isn't turning the key hard enough. It will unlock, but it doesn't turn very easy. It will feel like the key will break, but it does unlock.
Unless she deadlocked it.

had the same problem last week in our VT SS we had to replace the drivers door actutator (spelling lol) but lucky for us we could open all other doors with turning the key really hard but it did mean i had to climb over passengers seat to use this car
I did think possibly the actuator but she'd have to be unlucky for both door actuators to go at the same time. Plus the lights dont even flash when she uses the remote so at this stage im guessing the battery has died in the remote so will try a new remote and if that doesnt work then i'll test the actuators.
dont tink so if its deadlocked am I right or not???
Just get her to try turning it hard, or get a mate of hers too. Also don't forget that when she has locked with the remote but unlocks with the key the alarm will go off, so she will have to get the key in the ignition and start the car or hit the unlock button.

good luckI always get scared dead locking the SV8 as sometimes the key goes flat and I cant find the spare one so I am charging it alot and not dead locking it only when its outside my mates as his had his car broken intoo a few times
All good now. Went down and managed to get it unlocked with the key in the door. To start with it just wouldnt unlock until I turned it to 'lock' it (even though it was already locked), and then back 'unlock' it. Couldnt start the car due to the imobilizer but least I got in and could check it wasnt a flat battery. Went and bought a new remote for $85 from a local locksmiths and then went back and programmed it. All works well now. I pulled the old remote apart for interests sake and tested the battery, still had 2.92v so something else in the remote must have shit itself.
Cheers for the help everyone![]()
Dont most remotes run 12v batteries?
Maybe it was just a dead battery in the remote
