G'day,
I have a vt Berlina, it is running on stock berlina wheels.
If I upgrade to 17" vt ss wheels, would I still need to install a camber kit? Or would I get out of that as they are both genuine vt wheels...?
Cheers

You will only need a camber kit if the tyres wear.
Ah I understand now.
I'll put the rims on and see how the tyres wear, cheers
Should be right the camber wont change unless you lower it. Even then unless its really low (or you tow heavy loads) and you have low profile tyres i prb wouldnt worry about it
sorry mate but i have to disagree.it's not just the lower profile but the wider profile too that will likely affect your tyre wear.without the camber kit but with standard 205/65/15 tyres my daughter's series 2 berlina's tyre wear was pretty good.then she fitted a set of 17" ss wheels with $1000 worth of tyres on them and within a couple of months the tyre wear (from incorrect camber and toe started to become obvious.she had a 4 point pedder's kit fitted and 12,000ks later we reckon that the kit has 50% paid for itself cos the wear has now remained even.I guess if you are going to run cheap tyres it may not matter as much but if you intend to spend real money on tyres then personally i would get a 4 point kit fitted.good luck
camber is not affected by wheels but by up and down movement mainly thru lowering or accelerating (as the car squats down) if you have a lead foot or overload your car (full car load everytime you cruise) you will chew tyre's
the reason the camber and toe are such a problem on a vt is that the design was poor and the materials used for the control arms allowed them to bend out of shape.that's why so many i.r.s kits are sold in australia every week ----- to attempt to fix a problem that gmh would not fix ---note that changes were made from vx2 onward.
my vx has 245/35/R19 VE SSV's on it and i have insane camber somewhat like this /\ hahaha
thats only running fe2's, i have a vy diff cradle that im putting in next week to fix it up and then i should be able to finally put in my sl's

Damn, fair bit to it ha. I'd put a bit of time into researching this and came up with a few opinions like the ones above.
All I do is highway K's to work and back daily, about 50,000 k's a year with just me in the car. The only weight appart from me is the subs in the boot =P And yeah at the moment she hasn't been lowered.
Sooo, I should be able to get away without a camber kit at the moment but may need to invest in one in the future depending on how the tyres fair. I'll just try it and see how I go, if I need one then I need one.
Cheers for all the advice
Oh and Vx21, good choice with the ssv's!
