Hi,
I'm kinda new at this whole engine game and wanting to rebuild a V8 for my vt commodore just reading around some post and can someone tell me the diff between a short block and a big block???? thanks
Do you mean short block and a long block? Or small block and big block?
-Democracy must be something more than two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for dinner.
James Bovard, Civil Libertarian (1994)
-Giving money and power to government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys.
P.J. O'Rourke, Civil Libertarian
-Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short Phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.
Ronald Reagan (1986)
Short Block - Block, crank, conrods, pistons, rings, bearings etc all assembled. Basically the bottom half.
Long Block - A Short Block plus heads, cam, push rods rockers etc all assembled. Basically the whole motor, minus bolt ons.
Small Block - Refers to the engine displacement, smaller displacement - 304/308ci, 307ci, 327ci, 350ci, etc,
Big Block - Large displacement engines - 454ci, 522ci, 572ci etc... All different sizes, different makes...
Thats a rough idea, want more details google each one..![]()
