replace gear indicator lights in centre console?

does the whole console have to be removed to replace the gear indicator lamp(lamps)in the console of a vt auto? if so how do i remove the spring loaded compartments at the front and rear without breaking them.

Console stays were it is u have to start by removing the screws under the front spring loaded compartment x2 they just behind the rubber pad.
You then have to pull out the console piece sorrounding the t-bar its clipped in and is a tight fit i usually start at the back somewhere.
Then put your finger under the piece that lights up and you will feel the wires for the globe at the most rear part of this section.
It then pull/twists out and exposes your globe
they are a simple wedge parker style globe.....

done (would you believe it had been blown for over a week but i was not looking forward to removing the console for 1 lousy globe) thanks again ,it was too simple
