    Default cracked resonator

    Hello everyone!
There are two rectangular glass filled resonators just before the tip of the exhaust in my stock VX. One of them developed a cracked yesterday, and now it has grown to a tear about 5 inches across. I took it to a exhaust specialist shop who said that i needed to replace both of the resonators and welding them up (Patching) them is not recommended as the flame will burn up the fibers inside. He didnt have the stock HOLDEN resonators but said a generic resonator will be a decent repair, however it will be smaller in dimensions compared to the stock Holden piece.

While the car doesnt seem to be loosing any power, it does sound like there a wasp nest under the car. (BUzzzzzzzzzz BUzzzzzzzzzz)

Should i go for this repair? What are my other options? I'm looking for the most cost effective repair as the agent doesnt stock the replacements

Go to wreckers or eBay, get a single cat V6 exhaust off a VT/VX/VY and bolt it up, stock exhausts are a dime a dozen, and most decent exhaust places will throw away a few a week. It will take you bugger-all time to unbolt your exhaust and bolt a new one on.

not a viable option where i live. most exhaust shops in brunei have the 'replace everything' mentality so it would be difficult to find 'scraps' to replace an already cracked muffler. I was thinking of resorting to exhaust 'bandage tape' or exhaust seal putty for a temporary repair until i can get it fixed permanently at the end of the month. Would hi temp silicone be good enough to patch up the crack at least temporarily?

I'd give the high temp silicon a go first - but let it dry solid before you give it a drive.
