    Default taking ls1 motor out

    hey guys im looking at taking my motor out from my vx ss is this a hard job im looking at buying a engine stand with hoist on it to lift motor out just want to fix rear main seal with the kit you can buy and also replace the sump seal then sell the car any info would be great cheers

    Dont need to take the engine out.

    Take the gearbox out and then drop the subframe down. Will have PLENTY of room to get sump out, and able to get the rear main plate and seal done at the same time.

    dont really want to drop gear box just easier to take it out and do it i have at least 12 months to do it

    Is there any major problems to look out for when taking the motor out? any info would be great

    is the wh statesman the same,,ie drop the k frame to get the sump off,,,cheers john
