Hi guys ... realllllly neeeeeed help
My vt wagon wont start ... thought it might be the immobiliser at first because it just seemed to fit the discussions i have been reading here immob light goes out ( the one above the Mode button ...right ...?) but no fire at all ...tried the "turn reds on and wait an hour"and although it did start once i shut it off after running 20 min and it would not start again ... would not start again
What are the odds that if i replace the BCM ( with keys ) that i will get success and what are the odds that it could be the fuel pump only ???
If i check for fuel and find none then does that mean its rooted or does it mean the BCM is stopping through the immob function
Need to do some elimination tests i guess
or take a punt on replacing the BCM
i need a vehicle to get to work
No vehicle >>No work >> No food>> No fuel >> No vehicle
AAAARGH....
I live alone in a remote area and will need to walk 5 km to bus which comes 2 times a day so any parts I need involves a half day travelling gotta get it right first time
Had an auto lecky coming to look at it but he didnt have a techtool ???? so told him not to bother ... maybe that was not a good move ... i mean he is only guessing at that point.... right? and i can do that
Please any help would be nice... Thank you
Ok, so you say it "won't start", will it crank but not turn over? If the read light is flashing whilst the car is unlocked and the key in the chamber it means your immobilizer is playing up. Do you have the roadside handbook in you glovebox? It has a detailed step by step guide on what to do.
Don't go replacing the BCM just yet.

Hey m8, have you checked for any error codes to narrow down ya problem?
its easy to do just need a bobby-pin or something similar
i wouldnt replace BCM thats a last resort!!

Yes, do an error code check, using a paperclip, bridge pins 5 and 6 (counting from left to right along the top row) on the diagnostics plug under the steering wheel and turn the key on and count the engine light flashes. It will flash in groups of two flashes, the first flash is the tens, the second flash is the ones. It will flash "12" 3 times first, then start flashing error codes if there are any. Note them down and go here http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/...des-vt-vx2.pdf to see what they mean.
OOps forgot to mention that i did disconnect the battery yesterday which may have wiped previous codes,
but i have also tried to start it again today which should add any new probs codes
i assume
Does a fuel pump issue get logged as an error ... ?
In essence NO error codes
Did all the checks and no error codes ,,, just keeps flashing 12 over and over
What now ....?
I guess its the fuel pump or spark maybe
but how do i check fuel pump operation ?
try turn your car on and get someone to stick there head under the rear bar and listen for the fuel pump to start whining (dont know if thats the correct term to use :P)
describe exactly what happens every time you try and start your car
Well there is no -one here except Cockatoos and wombats and they are asleep but i will try
back soon
Ta
not sure if you can hear it by yourself... maybe. so if you can hear it, its working... if not, its stuffed
good luck
Well I'm not much of a mechanic and granted I don't know much about vehicles but if I were you, living in a remote area and all, I would try calling a tow truck... could be up and running by midday! : )
another way to test if its getting fuel is spray some start ya bastard or crc etc into the throttle body and see if it starts if it starts then Ur getting no fuel. its how ive tested my fuel pumps when no one else is around to help
You say it started up after waiting an hour which bypasses the immobiliser, then you say you turned it off 20 minutes later, and then it wouldnt start again, did you wait another hour again first before trying to restart it,each time the car is turned off,you will have to wait another hour before it will bypass the immobiliser again to start ..that is until you get the problem sorted,it could be a BCM/ECU fault..

I like the pain of working it out for myself ....
Do you have any vehicles parked out front of your place that dont run ..... mmmmm ... ?
Love you sweetheart ....
....since the first time it started in the midst of not starting for a day i have not been able to get it started again ...period ...regardless of how long it sits on the reds trying to do the bypass thing ... yes I always wait the obligitory hr and more at times.... figured that if i try it too early then it would need to start the countdown all over again
Well CJ I may think like most women but that's not necessarily a bad thing, is it? If you would have taken my advice yesterday you would most probably be up and running by now but instead you are waiting another day to do what?? phone someone to come and do what? : )
And yes you are exactly right I do have a dead motor home in my drive, and as I recall I was going to call my mechanic to come and fix it but I distinctly remember someone saying (Last year) .... "oh no don't do that I can have it up and running in a few hours!!"
Love you too, darling : )
