is the alternator charging the battery? even new 1ns fail and usually its the regulator that does, so check with a multimeter and let us know wat the readings r with the car off and on idle.

Check the wire that runs from the back of the alternator to the battery.

Mine was fried and all black about two inches from the terminal on the alternator. I chopped off the fried part till I could see some nice copper and yea put a new terminal on and it fixed the problem straight up.

I read that it's cause from the terminal not being fixed properly to the alternator and causing it to arc and as a result fries the wire... Might be worth a look in for you cause I too bought a brand new alternator (not reconditioned) and the problem was still there till I went down the path of fixing the wire...

Not a bad idea to replace the charging harness, the vt had heaps of issues with the harness burning out the altinators back in the day. peel back the black tubing and check further away from alt terminal as said above mate good luck

Battery sounds fine, tho do another reading with the car running and ALL ur accesories on including stereo, lights ect.... and tell us wat the reading is? ur regulator might not b able 2 keep up nemore and might b on its last legs which is y ur battery light could b coming on after 20mins worth of driving.

if alternator and battery are new have a look at ur battery terminals with the wire going in to em have a look and see if they are green and corroded stoping true battery current.
check that all earths to motor are clean and tight if a dodgy earth or wire is'nt clean and making good contact u can have all sorts of battery issues

i have fixed the problem it ws the brown wire that goes from the battery to the alternater (the plug with brown and a white wire) it a fuse wire and it broke about 5cm away from terminal so i just chopped the wire about another 2cm down put a new clamp on it and connected it back to the battery and bam the battery light is not coming up anymore and the alternator is chagreing at 14.53 volts and the battery is keeping a charge
all that just from one little piece of wire
oh and after all i didnt need a new alternator the old one works fine it was just that one wire
for anyone else that has the same problem CHECK that wire first it might just save you alot of money trust me
thanks for all the help eveyone it did come to use
