    Default coil help needed for 2000 vx

    hi all i took my vx in to the doctor today and he told me that my car is mis firing.here is were it gets fun,i had my car serviced 2 months ago and they change the leads and spark plugs.so he told me te n ext step would be to change the coils which woud cost me between $300-$500 to get them sorted.now i dont have $300-$500 to spear.is there a way i can chage the coils and coil plate myself and if so can someone help me with the steps.also do i need any specail tools and how much would it cost for coils and coil plate.please if anyone can help i would be very greatful

    The coil pack is held in with two bolts underneath, the wiring harness is held in by a small bolt. If it takes you more than 5 minutes to remove and install, your drunk, LOL.

    As for price on coil pack, check eBay.

    thanks acarmody.i dont need to set any timing or any thing else.its just take old one off and put new one on

    Thats it, just a straight swap, timing is controlled by the ECU.

    i replaced mine with genuine holden parts.( I was sick of being sold crap from repco ) plugs,leads and the coil pack were a little over $500.If you've a friend with a vt or vx ask if you can swap coil packs for 5 minutes to check if that solves your problem before you go out and spend the bucks.

    Can post you a set of coils to your door for $70. They take 2 minutes to fit.
    VX2 Executive Sedan - 3.8L Auto (for now)
    VT SS Sedan - Supercharged V6 Auto (Genuine L67 SS)
    VN SS Sedan - 5.0L 5 Speed Manual (Currently Balga spec waiting for panel and paint)
