Hey guys...I'm in two minds about getting a series 1 Vx Calais or it's brother the Berlina...The pros I can think of the Berlina is more bang for the buck and I dont really like the fog lights on the Calais.
I DO however like the calais for its refinement....Id be happy with either car (in standard v6 form) But I'd like to know what you guys think? Oh I will only have about 7 grand so cost is maybe a worry
Originally I was after a vs ss but I ended up getting a vs calais and real happy with it.
Beyond the badge they are just nicer car and there are a few kicking round with L67's
Yeah the berlina would be cheaper. But yeah I reckon the Calais would hold it's value
Yeah better chance of finding a V8 calais i reckon, but the op wants a 6
id say if u can afford a decent calais 4 7 grand then go 4 it. if not get the berlina. tho i think u mayb pushing it a tad, mayb not

I'd have 10 for a decent Calais I reckon, starting to get into SS territory there though.

I would probably go the Calais, but having said that it would depend on the individual car, if I found a nice low km Berlina at the right price I would go that in preference to an average Calais.
Thanx heaps for the cooments guys! And yeah...if i can learn to live with the foggies...I would prefer the calais...series one though cos i like the grille beter..i know...im a weird and fussy man...but like u guys said...what ever comes up at the best price and Km's Ill go for thta....not much difference in the end...I get the lovely lights and grille...and the rear end which i love...gotta love that!...Would love to spring for the 5.7 but all the road trips me and the missus are gonna be doing soon....hmmm nah...id probably even prefer a dual fuel if i could...but the eco 6 is fine....Drop her on ssl's,camber kit(a MUST) maybe chrome altezza headlights...and a lukey cat back with twin tips...nice and classy...that would be about it
you'll find plenty of V6 vx berlinas for 7k or less....vx calais' for that price are usually snapped up quick or are in poor condition
id save a bit more and get the ls1 calais and id say the ls1 would be the same on fuel as the v6 for long trips.
Over here you can't even buy a 1/2 decent VX Berlina for 7k, let alone a Calais
VX2 Executive Sedan - 3.8L Auto (for now)VT SS Sedan - Supercharged V6 Auto (Genuine L67 SS)VN SS Sedan - 5.0L 5 Speed Manual (Currently Balga spec waiting for panel and paint)
Yeah I've seen lots under 10k, good kms and condition too. The LS1 would be better suited to long trips.
I thought at that time leather was only an option. what else has it got. auto headlights. dual climate control. boot cd stacker. maybe more positions in the front seats. fog lights (which i like) that look very aggressive with chrome bezels.
Personally, i'd be looking for the VX II Berlina with some added suspension tweaks plus electrics updates (auto headlights-new cruise system) over the series 1.
