It depends what came in the kit. Did it come with the Balancer and pulley kit as well or just blower and lim?

You would want to change the gaskets while your in there so a supercharger gasket and metal LIM gaskets are a must so it all adds up pretty quickly. Then you can add a tune to your shopping list too. Id be budgeting well over a grand depending on what you have in the kit unless you do the bulk of the work yourself

And after everything is fitted, you will have an engine with to much compression, and will probably turn the bottom end into a jigsaw puzzle.

Yeah too true about the compression. You would probably need run 98 octane even with standard pulley and need to look at tuning and/or intercooling even to go 10psi

Its probably cheaper to swap the whole engine in the long run

Its not just the compression, Positive Displacement blowers are fairly harsh on bottom ends, thats why the L67 engines came with stronger pistons and conrods (though the cranks are the same I believe and are fairly strong).

Thats why you can run a centrifugal blower with a good 9psi on a stock Ecotec, but will have troubles with a PD blower with less pressure.

My advice to the OP, sell kit to someone and get a L67 conversion, will be stronger and likely cheaper, and much more easily upgradeable in the future.

cheers for info ppl. Yeh i got the blower and everything for basically nothing just wondering on the approx installation costs. My mate has got a ecotec bottom end and a l67 top end running a 14 pound pulley and a intercooler. Is this just asking for trouble? i might just get the l67 for peace of mind that a piston isnt gonna shoot out the block :P
    Thanks again

Hey guys sorry to reply in quote but it wont allow me to reply for some reason, if your wanting to supercharge stock ecotec go to l67torque there is plenty of guys on there that have done the swap to standard motors and running fine ,one guy i have been in contact for a while now has been running 10 psi on standard ecotec for well over 15 months without skipping a beat and he going to go more boost.

    hope that helps
