Today I've purchased a TomTom ONE XL navigational system as we are going to the Cooly Rocks On Festival ( Ex Winrtersun ) in 3 weeks.
Now I've never used the cigar lighter in the 3 years I've had the VX and when I went to connect the plug it poked the plug out of the dash and I can still connect it but it doent work and the fuse is ok. I'm wondering is getting to the cigar lighter socket an easy process or is there another 12 volt socket in the car I don't know about as our 1975 Toyota Crown has the normal socket plus one the the glovebox and one in the engine bay for camping.

My VY has a 12 volt socket in the centre cosole.
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'
I had the same problem when i bought my car.
The connections at the bottom of the cigarette lighter barrel had slight corrosion.
Use a bit of sandpaper around the end of a screwdriver to clean it up a bit. Works great now.
It could be the conneciton behind the lighter has come loose, if you remove that section of dash you can tighten it back on.
