    Default Wanted 4 x P225/60 R16 98V tyres, whats best

I need 4 new tyres for our VX Commodore sedan as we are fitting the VE steelie rims and yes we've had the hubs machines so I'm wondering who makes a great all round tyre for this size: P225/60 R16 98V and nothing over the top as it our daily driver and camper tower.
16 x 7'' steelies powder coated signal red with VW beetle S/S caps, chrome rim trims and fake white walls.

Update 17.06.11 - after seeing the fake white walls at the Cooley Rocks on Festival I've decided to purchase a set of the genuine whitewalls.
Update 05.08.11 - we've just purchased a new house and the drive way has a kilometer of smooth dirt road so we purchased another set of normal black tyres for the Commodore and the white walls will go on the Hot Rod.

if you google "tyre size calculator" you'll find a site that will give you the comparitive diameters, circumferences etc of your various tyre sizes.you will find ,i think, that the correct size should be 225/55/16 (if you fit a tyre with a greater than standard diameter you will be travelling faster than the indicated speed on your speedo, hence more chance of a speeding ticket ) i run dunlop sports sp fast response in the above size and i reckon they're perhaps the best all round tyre i've ever used.quiet, comfortable ride, acceptable mileage and good dry & wet weather handling.they retail for around $250 ea but i saw an ad a few nights ago and beaurepaires are offering 25% discount on dunlop tyres if you purchase 4 tyres.worth checking out at least.

Yes you right and my mistake the 225/60 R16 98V is the VE size and the best fit and speedo reading for the VX is the 225/55 R16 and I'll go over to Dunlop this afternnon and see what they can do for 4 of the dunlop sports sp tyres but for me $250 per tyre is a tad expensive.

Update 21.05.11 - Was quoted $245.00 each fitted but I've decided to go with a complete set of the Olympic Sprinters.
Update 05.08.11 - We purchased 4 of the Sprinters and I finally got around to fitting the VE rims fitted with the 225/55/16 and I then see they are larger in diameter than the 205/55/15 original tyres so e should have went with something like 225/45/16 but its too late now and the tyre place won't take the back.
I'll just have to have the speedo tested to see what I'm actually doing at 40, 60, 100 and 110 klms.
