Default Can't get in to my car, key stoped working!!

This is doing my head in!
I went out to get something from my car and the key remote wouldn't unlock the car. None of the buttons work at all. I think its deadlocked so the key wont open the door either.
Stupid thing is im prity sure the spare key is in the car!
It happened before but only for a few clicks and then it started working again.
The battery is reading 2.9v so it should still work.

Any ideas what the problem could be and how i can get in to my car?

You should still be able to get in with the key in the lock but you need to turn the key hard.

Cheers guys, you are right with the forceful part. Cracked the case of the remote doing it. Its anticlockwise to unlock the dead lock then clockwise to unlock the door.

To overcome the 'tightness' in using the key to unlock the door, I regularly only use the key to do the turning, this keeps the battery in good condition and the manual side of the lock free. I can't see any point in unlocking with the button when I am only a meter from the door!...(besides, I am a cheap skate who doesn't want to buy a new key head when the battery dies)...Same two keys after 11 years.

In my reply I originally wrote anti clockwise but then I deleted it because I wasn't sure.
