i want to get an exhaust with a nice note that sounds as tough as i can get it
peoples thoughts and recommendations?
for a 'nice note' that has some level of toughness. Extractors ($500), hi flow cat ($300), 2.5 inch catback with centre muffler only ($250)
Everyone has different opinions on what a 'nice note' and what 'tough' is mate. Maybe search youtube or share a youutbe link that you like the sound of, then find otu what they are using?
Personally I like the lukey catback, minus the rear muffler. I wouldn't call it tough but it's the best sounding catback off the shelf IMO.

yeah well i think V6s are a waste of money but people still have them.
because the the victorian and nsw govt believe that p platers should not drive v8's stupid in my opinon, a p plater can still wrap themselves around a pole at 170km/h in a v6 or a v8 the v8 just allows you to do it slightly quicker
yeah its pretty dumb, i thought NSW had the power to weight ratio law, thats a better idea.
I can do extractors for $385, Wildcats, no welding required to fit. Leave the original cat, and a Manta 2 1/2" cat back, with front muffler and tail pipe for $220. $40 shipping to anywhere in Aus. If you really wanted a hi flow cat to make it a bit louder (yes, they do make a difference to the note) then I can do one for $195 that is EPA approved. But the cat will have to be welded in.

No, just makes it louder and deeper and more "raspy".
As an example, supplied extractors and a 2 1/2" single with no rear resi to a local guy with a twin cat VY. A bit later he bought two high flow cats, made it bark so much he had to fit a rear resonator to quieten it down a bit.
Because the cats are fitted to a pipe that is already flanged at either end. So extractors will bolt up to one end, and exhaust to the other.

My exhaust guy told me save your money on cats. the factory unit was pretty good.

Can you have a new Y piece and cat ?. i think the Y is the weak link in that system.

If anything, the only thing that would need doing would be to go a 2 1/2" cat to mach the system, and go 2 1/2" straight off the merge of the Y getting rid of the 2" collector.
