I curently own a 1999 VT calais, and am looking to change me stock head unit to something that is touch screen and must have inbuilt GPS.
Any recommendations?
What is your budget? Because you can spend thousands on these sorts of units.
Personally I like pioneer headunits because to me they look nice, and this is their top of the range unit.

im going with Kieran on this one and saying Pioneer. You pay more but get your money's worth in quality and sound output. More user friendly, seem to just be finished off better. Pioneer is top of the line with this stuff. I have also found that Kenwood double dins are good. If you spend more money you get better quality, especially for the gps capabilities.
Thanks guys.
I found that the pioneer where a bit pricy as i dont make that much as a fist year apprentice.
however i am no thinkg of getting this one G1305A Eonon In Car 8" Digital LCD GPS DVD Player n8 (eBay item 360331020649 end time 24-May-11 01:52:37 AEST) : Cars, Bikes, Boats

mate be careful buying this from Hong Kong although it looks like its got all the bells and whistles... whats the sound quality really like? 65 watts x 4 it might be good...but if you notice the phone function it doesnt support 3g so its useless in OZ as we are on 3g ....also even though it has Australian maps can they be updated?...also sometimes Australian fm radio stations you may not pick up...also if you have the sat nav on can you still hear music?...it has an external amp if you decide to not use that amp and want to use your own will it still work?... sorry to put a downer on your day but mate money is money and cheap is cheap do your research on it before buying....btw pioneer for me you can pick up a good pioneer head with usb ipod connection unit 50 watt mosfet for around 200 bucks throw in some 6 x 9 pioneer speakers approx 100 bucks that will give you a good sound and a touch screen sat nav around 200 bucks a little over what your paying for the HK unit...ok you dont have a dvd in it but as an everyday car do you really need it???...ive got a pioneer dvd touch screen in my car and ive watched about 10 mins of dvd on it lol but the sound is great...my wifes car pioneer as well sounds great...remember mate its not about how good your speakers are although that really does help its about how good your head unit is.
the good thing about getting older....more toysthe bad news more headaches
Thanks for the help guys.
It is much appreciated.

Alpine have deal at the moment on IVA-W520EBT, normally $1899 for limited time its $999, im definately going to buy at least 2 of these units!
Alpine website
"I make my living with Snap-On Tools, please don't ask to borrow them"
Matey, leave these alone. They are absolute garbage. Sound quality is garbage. Some time they sound alright but most times they sound like your speakers are under water. That GPS is out dated and your have to keep re starting it because it freezes. Trust me I got stung. After 3 replacements I ended up pulling it out and outing alpine in. Pricey but well worth it.
Or buy a normal head unit and learn how to use a map book...Save yourself $400-1800, get better sound quality, better speakers, and no annoying "turn left in 100 meters" voice.
hey mate grab a head unit u like with usb function grab ur self and ipone jail break it (not illegal) down load the tom tom app for free (may be illegal) and then u got pone that
