Hi all.
The VX has been what i consider awesome on fuel although today with 500mt to go to the servo on the highway, she starts losing speed and I pull it over to the side safely. The guage was reading above E and the DTE was reading 70.
Are these things that far out? After walking to the servo, jerry can in toe back to the car with 10ltrs, drove to the servo and filled it and the DTE then read 920! Went up to 940 on the trip home - 30klm and it now reads 910. What is going on here?
I've put a new battery in it and disconnected it during the week to replace the HVAC dials. Would disconnecting the battery twice send the computer and reading into a spin?
Help please.
Thanks,
my car does the same with fuel... around 60-70km's left means empty
it says you have that many km's to go because you do alot of highway driving yeah
Odd, mine said 48km left today, and yet after filling I still had 12L left, which given I had been driving around town accelerating and stopping a lot, that's pretty accurate.

vx's are bad for running out of fuel with 70-100km to empty displayed
I tune the oldschool way fear on the passengers face and knuckle colour cant go wrong
tabbacco is still my favorite vegetable
Ok. Yeah I guess we had done quite a bit of h/way driving over the past 2 days with 2 x 200klm rounds trips. I figured that'd be why it shows the 900+ after filling it up but would have expected it to drop after hitting the town traffic.
Will keep an eye on the guage and make sure we fill under 1/4 tank.
Bit dissapointing it isn't more accurate. No worry.
Thanks for the advice.
Mine was doing the same thing . When i replaced the fuel pump i checked the float level . With the float and pump out of the tank and placed on a level surface the float should be 20 mm higher than the bottom of the pump , mine was about 10 mm lower than the pump which will give you a false reading ,I just bent the float level up a fraction and its fixed ..

Had the fuel float level bent back up all good now.was nervouse testing it on the weekend though.
Black on Black is beautiful!
was it easy to do... i ran out of petrol last weekend. and i was about to fill up at the servo a km up the road lol
mine is the other way around.
Misses did not fill it up after beeping at her and it was reading 7km till empty. drove 10ks and filled up?

Holden and there shithouse fuel senders I have replace one of mine already and its rooted again, Now I use the 1/4 mark as empty.. Cheaper then replacing them for $150+ in parts just for it to stop working properly again in a couple years
u might b able 2 get it recalibrated rather then puttin in a new sender?

whenever my fuel light comes on, I can put in 56L til the 2nd click (on every car I have ever owned, I always fill to 2nd click). When the DTE is zero, I can put in 59.5 L. When I can be bothered I may look at my fuel sender, too....
hmm fuel sender hey, i have this issue in my calais' never let DTE past 50 km/h car flips out says it has petrol but that doesn't explain why I'm walking to the servo with a Jerry can !
At least FORD circled the problem
You don't have to buy a new sender just bend the float up. The hardest part is dropping the tank to get the sender out . Then place the sender on a flat surface and bend the float till you have 20 mm clearance. If you bend it more then you will have more fuel in the tank when the needle is on empty.
