Default severe vt v6 oil leak!!

hey guys driving home 2nite, all of a sudden i could smell melting tar/plastic in the cabin n within another 5 mins my oil signal in the cluster kept flashing on/off, i drove home really slowly n as i stopped the car, there was a trail of oil in the path id jus driven. quickly jacked up the car n the whole undercarriage was covered in oil (no oil in reserve either). i didnt know where to start. i degreased it then hosed in down, i think its coming from the oil pressure sender near the oil filter. is it possible for oil to leak from there?? ive been under the car for the past hour n jus want an answer. any type of help would be awesome!!

Yes it is possible as the sender has to have oil there to send the signal if its got oil pressure the best way to check if ya cant tell by just lookin at it would be to put some more oil in it and turn it over to see if it pumps oil out the front. but have some one turn it over so if it does start they can shut it off as ya dont really want it runnin as if it is pumping the oil straight out the front it wont be getting much through the engine.

yep it was the pressure sender, it spurts out from between the wired connector and the body of the sender. do i just hav to replace the part thats screwed onto the block? or do i replace the whole wired part too?

You buy a new switch. Just unplug the connector lead off the nackered unit, screw in the new one, and re-fit the connector!...Simple. Wouldn't hurt to put a smear of thread sealer on new sender before screwing it in. Don't over tighten it either as it has a tapered thread and is vertially self sealing.
