    Default VT Rear Demister

    Hey guys,

Looks for a few pointers as I'm planning to have a look to see if I can fix my demisters.
Currently when I push the demister button, I can hear a click under the dash. Fuse seems to be fine, I'm not sure about the larger fuse/relay thing though. The demister wont work at all, so I'm just trying to find out where to start looking, thought the 'click' might be a clue as to what's wrong.

I think the rear window has been popped before as I've found bits of glass throughout the boot when cleaning it out.
Could the connectors not have been wired up again potentially?
And where are they located on the VT's so I know where to start lookin?

    Cheers!

yeh sounds like the havent been conected, if u remove the c pillars (trim panel the rear seatbelts go through) you will see two connectors on the d/s one comes from the body loom p/s one is a short lead that earths to the body.

    hope this helps

Cheers mate, fingers crossed this is all it is :P Will be nice to have it working again haha.
Do the back seats need to come out at all or do the pillar trims just pull off ?

big chance it's a relay which is on your fuse panel below the steering wheel.the fan relay is the same and they sit alongside one another so you can temporarily swap them to check. may take you all of a minute.good luck.

yeah will prob need to take the left and right seat section out as there is a trim screw in the bottom on the pillar trim undo the grab handle and it will just unclip.

but yeh do the relay swap first i thought i read that you already tried that..

Nar checked only the fuse, didn't think to swap over the relays to see if the one I've got in there was borked.

Well tried the relay thing (spent ages trying to jam them in once I got them out cause I had them the wrong way out... fkn idiot....*face palm*)
Didn't seem to do anything, was able to pull the trims back enough that I could have a good look behind. Looks like the passenger side isn't connected at all.. there isn't even a prong from the window to connect it to ffs.
Would a windscreen place deal with this sort of shit ? could they solder something on to the strips ? or is it a job for a sparky or someone else?

I swear, everything that the guys before me touched on this car... they've ####ed and now I have to fix it.

The only result I got out of today was removing a stupid Nokia speaker for a hands free device that was once installed...

Yeah could see the wiring etc fine, could see that it's earthed to the pillar, but on the drivers side you can see the metal prong the cable connects to on the window, on the passenger side, there's nothing for the earth wire to connect to...

might have to have a look for this, thanks!
Will probably need to be a connector tab too cause mines obviously missing, and the kit, from what I can see by the pic at least, doesn't seem to come with more tabs.

Can u see a metal contact area on the back window where there should b a tab on the drivers side just like the passengers? u could solder a tab in place if its missing.

Haha no test light yet... I always forget when I'm in an auto store :P

Thought I could see a metal contact area but not too sure, will have to double check.

Bill, you're a legend dude, might be keen, will have another look at this window to be sure there's metal I can solder onto.
    Let ya know man, cheers!

Nope... no metal contact area... looks like there used to be something there (there's a gloss on that area of the window), but no metal..
    fail.
