    Default ls1 sump gasket

    How hard is it to change the sump gasket on my vt ls1 6spd?
    if its to much of a pain i nthe arse i might try and get a mechanic to do the job (bye bye cash)

    got 2 jack stands,a trolley jack and engine support bar??? you can undo the crossmember and take it off, of remove the gearbox and tilt the engine forwards enough to clear the pickup

    A mate of mine did the same as above, he dropped the steering rack,put the stands under the body took the wheels off and let the k-frame hang there will holding the engine up with a crane and there was enough room. Prick of a job but doable.

    this sucks, i have dropped the oil pump pick up bolt in the sump when i was changing the timing chain over! i have drained the oil but am now going to buy a pen magnet to see if i can get it. otherwise its pulling the sump off

    ok so i bought the pen magnet but i still cant find the bolt, guess its holding the engine up with a jack and pull the sump off!
