Default Replacing valley gaskets and lifters

Hi I need to replace my valley cover gaskets due to leaking oil into cooling system
I figured that while doing that would it pay me to replace the lifters at the same time.
as there has been what sounds like a lifter ticking for some time and I do have a new set of roller lifters I purchased some time ago of ebay, (sealed power brand from Federal-Mogul Usa)
Does the heads have to come off to replace the lifters ?

Has anyone heard feedback on these brand of roller lifters there were quite a few sales of them on ebay a couple of years back.

    Kind regards Chris

No to the heads. Replacing lifters is piss easy while the inlet manifold is off.

    1. Remove rocker covers
    2. Remove rockers and pushrods, keep on order and remember that the rocker bolts are one-time-use only. Get some cap-screw bolts from local bolt store for cheap, last forever and can be reused.
    3. Remove lifter guide (?), I think that's what its called, basically a piece of plastic keeping the lifters from turning in their bores, held in by two bolts.
    4. Lift lifters out.

If you've got the new lifters on hand and already have a suspected lifter noise, you'd be silly not to replace them while you've already got the inlet manifold off as you're 90% there
Process is as above. What I will add though is prior to fitting the new lifters you should leave them swimming in an oil bath overnight. Then, when you're ready to fit them you should liberally coat the roller on the lifter, pushrod ends and valve stem tip with a cam and lifter grease (molybdenum disulphate grease) to ensure proper lubrication on start up untill a proper oil flow is achieved.

^ Yeah as above, GREASE EVERYTHING THAT MOVES.

    Cheers Cander.
