What are the most common faults that I should be looking for in these two models, and which is the better model to buy??
Faults - VT
That site should give you all the Answers, But go for a VX, its like a 3rd version of a VT, But looks cleaner and they have most of the bugs worked out. My VX has been solid for 3 years, has 215k on the clock.
VX is better of course
VX2 would be what you're aiming for
VX s2 FTW![]()
Check out my ride here >>>>My VX Raptor
say NO to chev badges
Wanted To Buy=>> Mace 12mm or 25mm Manifold spacers - VX SS Headlights - VY handbrake complete set up
For Sale=>> vt/vx Berlina/Calais chrome window surround PM me for more details
What else can I say ...
PK`s VX Series II SS
If you don`t want to break it , then don`t bring it out to play with it !
i reckon VT as they have pretty mad camber.
but nah seriously VXII
Vx II S pack.
As a auto elec its my work car and not one problem for 4 years. Just SERVICE it & she will be good to you.
VT GO THE VT!!!! lol only joking thought id be the odd one out but seriously I had a Vt it was a great car but we have 2 VX commodores now a V8 and V6 and both are reliable.
the good thing about getting older....more toysthe bad news more headaches
VT II VX I same pretty much, minus the smallest things. VX II is better over both, it's basically a VY in VX drag.

VX has better side impact protection
VT2 is probably the lightest though
VT II Clubsport rocks!... well in the looks department anyway...but I know the VX II has a better engine internals & castings.
I don't think you will go wrong with either, just buy the car that is in the better condition with a well documented service history and receipts. A well looked after and well serviced VT will be better than an average VX. Both cars being equal I would go the VX, the VX did get a bit more in the way of safety in that the 'B' pillars were strengthened to help with a side impact, and ABS brakes became standard, they were optional on VT, some revisions to the front end geometry and tailshaft and a few other minor mechanical updates were made in the VX, I have had both and both were good cars, no major problems with either.

I think its a silly question personly...
As its like saying should I got VR or VS? VN or VP? VY or VZ?
If you said whats better an VR or a VT then we could have a debate.
I have a VT SI Clubby and an S2 VX gen3 Calais but to me the only thing I can tell thats different is obviously the calais options but its the indicator and window wiper arms... Thats it.
I think for the sake of saving an arguement just go the VX
