Vx Auto Tranny ####ed?
hey guys the other day i was driving home from work in peak our traffic through melbourne and all of a sudden my tranny would #### up. it would stay in 1st ttill about 5kRmp and the and then when it changed to 2nd it was as if it was a manual and i dropped the clutch on it. same thing happened with 2nd to third.
So i pulled over and checked my tranny fluid and it was fine.
could this mean my autos gone?
perhaps not.my transmission was supposedly r.s.about 50,000kms ago cos it was changing gears at anywhere from 1800rpm to 4000rpm,sometimes with a scary clunk similar to what you've described.Believe it or not it turned out to be just a tuning issue.I bought new (genuine) plugs,leads and a coil pack and it was (and still is ) fixed.I mean so fixed ,that included in the 50,000kms since it was stuffed!!! was a trip to darwin towing a 4.6m tinny (fingers crossed eh)
check fault codes . i had a vt do something similar it was a maf fault but it could also be a speed sensor or tps fault.
Sounds like a classic TPS problem.
did you check oil while it was running?

yeah checked the oil while it was idling in park. oil was fine.
Throttle Position Sensor. The PCM uses this sensor to tell the auto trans when to change gears. If it's faulty you get changes at higher than normal revs (even when you back off the throttle) and harsh gear changes. Easy and cheap to replace.Originally Posted by HarroVX
