99 vt s L67 10 psi modular pully otherwise stock.
Cruisin on a country hwy, no dramas, came out of a hairpin turn and booted it to get back up to speed. The engine sounded mint, lots of blower whine but the power just didnt get to the wheels. She really struggled to get back to 100k jolted a little bit hear and there to. The next time i put the foot in the same thing happened. She was cruising fine and sat on 100 but struggled under acceleration.
Thought i would limp her home and work it out there but then, at 100kph she just died, lost revs and shut down. Lost power steering and brakes too. All cluster lights came on so i dont know which one to trust. Now she just wont start at all.
If i try and turn it over it gets half a crank and stops. Kind of like having a flat battery. Which is new.
Im still waiting for racv lol. Im thinking it could be the dfi module or a crank angle sensor, any thoughts or ideas?
waited half an hour she started, sounded rough as guts, lotta tapping and vibrating like all hell. Thought i would limp it up the road to a shady area to get a better park off the road, as soon as i put her in gear she died again and is back to not starting.
sorta sounds like the CAS mite be dieing, tried pooring water on it to cool it down an then see if it starts

Another vote for Crank angle sensor
its getting interesting.
have her home now, she starts with a little extra kick from a jumper, not sure why the battery isnt strong enough alone.
sometimes she starts and idles, sounds fine until the throttle is touched then she clunks and dies.
othertimes when started it is clunky and tappy while idling, once again dies as soon throttle is touched.
interestingly while idling, without touching the go pedal, if put in gear she dies instantly.
ideas?
torque converter
big end bearing
cracked/warped totally shagged flywheel
if you have any ideas id love to hear em, and how can i check the ideas i have?
Sure its not the alternator, i heard that they can fail, witch could explain the lack of cranking power. If there is not enough power being generated the ecu can drop out witch would also explain why its dieing as soon as you put more of a load on it,.
Is just an idea,

nah the tapping is defidently not coming from the alternator, just threw in a brand spanker battery, it has enough to start it, but it struggles to do so.
the tapping is rythmic, loud and clear. pretty sure its thrown something internal, dont think its going to be a simple fix
Hmm sounds a little more serious, Unfortunately im not sure what it could be,, i hope i don't run into any issues when i finally get my L67 for my VT

im not to stressed, i've been looking for an excuse for a rebuild, now i have one. since im rather sure its an engine out job, i have been looking at stroker and cam kits all arvo, im like a kid in a candy store at the moment.
will keep the blower, not doing the turbo thing, but she wont be back in without a serious beef up.
what about the fuel pump or even the coils ?
it runs now, hard to start but it runs, serious tapping going on though. and i found a few iron filings on the dipstick, havnt drained it yet to see how much is on the sump plug but guessing theres going to be half a big end bearing ground up in there.
well something internal at the very least, will find out during the rebuild exactly what it is i guess.
