is a plenum spacer and a manifold insulater worth putting on a ecotec? worth sort of power gains would be gained and would it require a tuned afterwards??
thanks guys,
Hey mate, this has probably already been covered so have a bit of a search. But from what I've heard they tend to give you more in the low end, I however don't have them cause I don't think they would really do much at all...
best ecotec mod is to chain a boat to it
Not worth doing up a ecotec, id spend the money else where or save it.
but if your really keen on doing those mods, there are many threads about this area in Mace Engineering

I Would change the stock rockers for high profiles and leave it at that
I have both and def noticed the dif. Great throttle response and more torque. Their not cheap but that's because thier made of bakerlite. If your planning on doing small time mods I'd go with these.
If you're really keen to mod an ecotec go for it! But if you're trying to match an LS1 or something of that nature it's not worth it, it is/was/always will be a V6, that said I'll be doing up mine when off my p's with a supercharger.
A tune would be a good idea regardless, you'd be surprised what a good service (plugs, leads, clean everything out) will do as well. Start off with a decent exhaust system, high flow cat the works. Beyond that the chages will be less noticeable as far as power only your wallet will notice.

Timmy was a chemist's son, but Timmy is no more, for what he thought was H2O was H2SO4...
Then trade it in for a I6T lol.
I've done both insulator and spacer and recommend them. you can't miss the change even in engine exhaust sound. but not to be outdone my fuel economy on the same run was .3 better. now that's me driving it like i stole it from every set of lights. these are mods you do at home so saving money it's worth it. some roller rockers better breathing cold air intake and exhaust and you should be going ok. just don't expect sv6 power

Increasing Plenum capacity with the top spacer is more effective with FI.
That's funny because I actually bought a set and they actually made a difference.
I used to have a 237rwkw ecotec, I had everything done to it bar a stroker kit. It was fun, but my stock SS blew it out of the water.
I'd get the spacers, make up a CAI for the air box, get a set of yella terra 1.9 rockers and call it a day.
You're already pushing shit up hill with an ecotec, you're best to stop before it gets really steep.
hi
i brought these for my ecotec and yea i didnt notice much of a gain at all. (exhaust and intake are only other mods) it had the 5 speed getrag behind her. i reckomend gettin some diff gears as a better option.
i think the spacers should go with a cam and rockers/tune to really work properly but that will cost you.
Yea that's fair enough, I just here mixed reviews about them so haven't been bothered with it... But I guess in terms of the OP for the price of them it's worth a shot! Let me know how they go with a mace CAI if you do end up getting them and then I might invest in a pair :P
