Hi all,
My mum has a 99 VT Acclaim and for bout a month I have been hearing that when she takes a right hand turn specifically on a round about whilst turning if she doesn't apply enough acceleration the car stalls forcing her to move out of anyone's way safely to stop so she can restart the car again. She does have plenty of fuel on board so I have ruled that out I'm thinking maybe fuel line? the pump was changed 2 months ago so I'm not too sure whats going on here.. This actually happened about after a week or so after the fuel was changed. Also she gets a grinding noise that vibrates through the cabin when the brake is applied.
Any info on these symptoms would be much appreciated.
Hi mate,
Stalling on a turn usually indicates the fuel pump is on it's way out. Was it replaced with a new one or a second hand? We have had people on this forum replace fuel pumps and the new ones have also been faulty. If it's new and working, check the fuel pump relay (in the engine bay), or there could be crap in the fuel line. Was the fuel filter changed at the same time as the pump?
As for the grinding when braking, I would check the pads to make sure they're good. If they are good, maybe warped rotors (does it vibrate?) or wheel bearing. Quite often the simplest answer is the right one.
Good luck.
