I service my auto every 20000 k's.I wouldnt just change the transmission fluid,Its best to buy a transmission filter service kit for around $25..and change the trans filter as well as the fluid. You can get these kits at any good auto parts store. These kits come with a new pan gasket, and new transmission filter obviously, and a new filter seal.Just remove the pan and drain it,clean the pan magnet on the bottom of the pan etc, pull out the old trans filter and seal, and refit the new filter and new filter seal, then refit the transmission pan using the new pan gasket, and you dont use any type of sealer on the cork type pan gaskets. Then just refill it to the proper level with dexron 111(3) type transmission fluid and thats your transmission serviced. With the pan bolts, theres no actual set tightening sequence ,but its best to only tighten them to their specified tension of around 11Nm which can seem a bit loose to the unaware person, but cork type gaskets can be crushed if they are overtightened, and they will just leak like crazy if they are crushed by overtightening.

Just a couple of tips.Sometimes the old filter seal doesnt come out along with the old filter,If this happens, using the new seal as a reference, carefully collapse the metal part of the old seal inwards with a small screwdriver, this allows you to then grab the old seal with needle nose pliers and pull it out of the trans.I also put the new seal on the filter first, and then push the new filter and seal, both together,up into the filter locating hole.I push it in until it bottoms out in the hole.I then give the new filter a gentle tug to make sure its pushed fully home and is not gonna fall out. Also put some clean transmission fluid on the new filter seal before you push it onto the filter, and also before you push it up into the transmission.
