Default Question about a radiator flush for a vx

I followed the steps in my gregorys manual (except remove the knock sensor) and flush my radiator. In the book it says the hole system holds 12 litres. I was flat out filling it with 6 litres. I tryed removing all the air but the top hose still has air in it, ive used the bleed screw as well. I have taken it for a short drive to see if it might over heat but it doesnt. Im worried it might over heat when im a few kms from home. seems its only taken only 6 out of 12 Litres. should i be worried?

    That's normal mate..

Undo the bleed screw fill system right up with the heater on and then put the radiator cap on then wait for a full flow or coolant coming from the bleed screw

Yeah Normal Mate. When you have flushed it all, It holds about 6 litres in the block. So this is why you pour a entire bottle of 5L concentrate to make a 50/50ish mix as needed.
I pull the bottom, top hose off, remove radiator cap. flush in all directions. Then i remove one of the heater core hoses on the side, have the heater on hot, then flush that back through also. Reconnect all hoses. pour in all coolant concentrate, Then fill it up as much as you can, start the car and pour some more in till it will not drop anymore. Replace Cap.
Put the car into diagnostic mode. When the temp hits 91, Pull over and bleed it. Easy :-)

Just a bit of a tip,If you park the car so that the front of the car is facing upwards,(car ramps?),and then refill the radiator,it will save having to bleed so much air out, as most of the trapped air moves up to the front of the engine block and to the radiator with the front being higher up.Ive done this for years now and Ive never had one problem with airlocks or trapped air in a cooling system. Also make sure the interior heater is set to hot when you first run the car, this will help purge any trapped air in the heater system which is part of the engines cooling system..

You also might find it a bit easier (quicker) getting as much coolant in as possible by removing the top radiator hose off the tank and pouring the coolant down the hose till full, then quickly slipping it back on.
