do yourself a favour and buy a brand name mate, generally you get what you pay for. Hit up x-plode site sponsor for a price. Or failing that hit up user Not_an_abba_fan he can sell/ship for a good price.

    x-plode.

otherwise ballistic 100cpi cats, they are "illegal", but best cats on the market IMO.

both x-plode and ballistic arent a bad price either @ $150 each, reason im asking is i have just installed a 222/224 @112 lsa comp cam and i only have a twin 3" cat back with standard hsv cats and extractors, i want to finish the exhaust before i get the tune. does anyone know if its worth me paying 900+ for pacies instead of keeping original hsv extractors if its only gonna be around a 10-15 rwkw i probly wont worry about it.

hey bud, i had 224,228 cam in mine with 1;8 r/r n otr ported t/b n cat bak 2 /12 it made 229kw@wheels n 829nm tourqe@wheels too and mafless (bit low on power i though i wud of got more but tourqe was good,)
I am rebuilding new motor now to same spec (as id just water locked cylinder in that one driving through a cuaseway that was flooded, water was low but current was high otr sukked it up oh no and i had only done 10'000klm but will add extractors and cats and some minor head work, i will pm you the results once off the dyno.. im hopeing for 260kw+ n would like to think it will make around 280-300 with the head work but we wait and see... Btw evin 229kw@wheels is fun :P from what i have read and been told extractors and there variations affect the power and tourqe curve so check into what you buy and how it will affect the performance but i think evin 10-15kw gain would be noticable

I've got x-plode cats on mine. Sounds alright, slightly raspy/loud at times with my pacies and 2.5" cat back twin system.
I've got a vid posted in my Car's thread (See sig). Haven't had any issues with my cats. (meow!)

as for cats, well max flow is best but then there is the law side of things, i think in aus to meet emission laws you need cats to meet "euro standard 2" in australia that means 200 cells per square inch wich is less flow then 100cells per square inch "euro standard 1" so 100cells = better flow but risk the law and epa busting your a$$ alot do it though and alot have straight through pipes with dummy cats aswell... also the inside of the cat is important too, there are ceramic substates and metalic substrates the matalic are stronger better and last longer then the ceramic ones but they are dearer, i would suggest to go for metalic subsrate if you can afford, things to think of aswell are costs involved with having them welded in aswell becuase the will need flanges pipe welded to them and tabs to bolt to crossmember.. good luck and hope you get a good setup happening, im no expert the things iv said may b wrong but i think it may help give you an idea..

I wouldn't drive through a puddle let alone a flooded causeway with an OTR,

your car should be making 250 @ minimum with a 224/228 and who said it was a good idea to put 1.8 roller rocker on a high lift cam???

not worried about that! if i was they would defect it for being on superlows, too loud, cam etc before they got to the cats

listened to yours, sounds sweet but the 5lt will always sound better than the ls1 IMO.

Does X-plode cats only come in 100cpsi or do they also come in 200cpsi?

Might as well not even bother with cats if you're going 100 CPI - same fine regardless, and they'll be very loud. 200cpi magnaflows for the win.

The venom cats are good, I've got a set for mine and a mate uses them on a turbo 6L iron block aswell. I've always wondered what the legalities are with 100cpi cats when using 2 of them when from factory the car had 1 cat?

They're 100cpi, so they're illegal regardless of how many you put on.

    Magnaflow +1

The X-plode ones look like all the other generic "Awesome Race Cats with our company name etched on them"...I wouldn't go near them or anything else on eBay besides genuine Magnaflows.

I wouldnt touch the magnaflow cats either they're ceramic core, you want steel core cats.

+1 for steel core especially since mine is on superlows already. ive had magnaflow on my old v6 and within 6 months the cats were stuffed from scraping speed humps etc, pushed all the ceramic stuff and rooted the rear mufflers. that car was just below fe2
