Default Thinking of working on my VT

I'm thinking of working on my VT and doing it up a little bit.

How hard and or how expensive is it to put on a body kit? I've seen some shockers here in melbourne where they are holding on by 100mph tape and stuff.

Also with rims how much would I would be looking at for a set of four nice cheap ones? (if thats possible) As it stands at the moment im still sitting on stockies, which I believe are 15"? not too sure. If I wanted to go bigger like 17" would I have to have the guard rolled back or how far can I go before I need to do this.

To do a body kit properly, unless you can do it all yourself or it's already the right colour then will be thousands I would think.

For second hand rims you could get some for a few hundred, all depends. For new with tyres it could be $1400+ for cheaper ones.

You can go to 17s comfortably, even 19's on superlows should have plenty of room under the gaurds.

body kits are so expensive mate, when they need to be painted and stuff can run into the thousands.

just spend your money on a nice set of rims and lower it, and if you have an executive commodore just colour code the body kit to the car, i reckon they look tuff as like that.

What do you mean by color code the body kit to the car? Its just a standard VT 97 Berlina the silvery color :P Well kinda its pretty brown at the moment.

the black bits at the bottom of the car, to suit the color of your car. I.e my car is white but all around the bottom of the bumpers are black. Color coding is making it all white.

On another note, what sort of prices would I expect to run into for getting a professional to color code it? I spoke to a bloke I used to go to awhile ago and he said it was pretty pricey as paiting the plastic to look right was a fair amount of effort.

So what your saying is if you find a color that looks good with the color of the car you already have like black or white. And (for arguments sake) they clip on and there would be two tone on my car because it would be black on bottom and silver on top??

Keep your eyes on ebay and trading post for a genuine SS kit or the like, will save a lot of trouble in the future. Also keep an eye out for a good second hand set of rims. I went to buy new stock tyres a few years back, ended up getting an as-new second hand set of S pak rims with new tyres that someone had just traded for new 18's. They still look good but cost me less than a set of new stock tyres.

    well:

by body kit i hope you dont mean a fully hektik drift stylez one. cleanest kit available IMO is the VX SS kit and no im not biased, when people put HSV kits on commodores i can pick straight away. its a bit harder with the SS kit. Keep your eyes peeled for a second handy, ebay and gumtree are good to patrol. painting id see being close to 1k but still i would say its worth it.

then just tie it together with some VX SS 17's and drop it on its tits.

If it isnt tuckin, it must be suckin

My vote would be to "Calais it up" and slam it on a set of VT SS wheels. But, if you've got the cash definetely go the VX SS kit..

In the 2nd pic.. is it the same side skirts? They look different.. but I'm thinking it just might be a shadow effect from the ground making it look different at the rear of the side skirt?

seriously dont bother mate. the amount you spend to make it look any good (will cost a packet if you pay someone), plus the root around of getting it done (even if you pay someone, beleive me, there will be some hitch or drama). just sell your car, and use that money, added to the thousands you would spend on the body kit and painting, and buy a proper car with it already on. youlle end up with a nice v8 that way also.
just trying to save you pain for not much end gain $$ wise. no matter what you think, it wont improve the market value much, might make it harder to sell even
