    Default potential break in attempt?

last night at about half 2 i was in bed and heard the gate go at the side of my house, i thought it was just the wind blowing it on the latch because it was quite a windy night, looked out the window and couldn't see anything and went back to bed.
So anyway yeah i woke up this morning to find the lock had been moved and the gate door was open, and the wind wouldn't of done that, and also found the two side indicators on my car had been stolen?
now this is gonna make me sound pretty stupid but i'm just trying to work out why the hell someone would steal them off my car at two in the morning? and have the need to come into my garden! so i'm thinking, is there anyway you can sort of jump a car through the plugs of the bulbs? like maybe a little power surge or something that will open the locks? the rest of the car was absolutely fine and no other signs of forced entry but it's just confused me as to why they only took that!
anyway if someone could just tell me yes or no about my stupid theory then that'll settle it lol cheers in advance!

A lot of people steal them to put on VR and VS's to replace the crap orange square ones. Are yours the clear ones? Did they take the orange bulbs as well?

I hear ya! I ended up using loctite after replacing mine heaps of times. Lived in a crap area though.

Lucky they stole the cheapest item I suppose. I think they are only $20 from memory plus bulbs.

yeah guess that's it then! i wish i'd of caught the little shit now, can only be locally someones done it, surely people don't go roaming the streets at night to find them. cars right up the drive as well so you wouldn't of been able to tell from roadside. ah well where i am it's gradually getting worse to be honest.

Look for a smug and happy looking bugger in a VR/S with clear indicators!

If they have recently installed them without washing the car you should be able to see a square outline where the old lights sat. It sticks out like dogs balls unless you scrape the crap from behind the old ones.

My cousin has a VT. He parked at some shopping centre in Bendigo, came out, jumped in his car and wondered why the indicators weren't working.
Some horses' ass had done the same thing, but in broad daylight.
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'

I had mine stolen off my VT, but the dumb ####s just ripped them out. So they destroyed the plugs on the wiring harness.

I've heard stories where people come out and find their guard have been kicked in because people are too shit to pop them out so kick in the guard to get them out.

Mad Max had the right idea when he had detonators on his fuel tanks. If someone went to milk his tank- F'ing BANG!
I think this was due to the fact that he drove a Ford, fuel was more important than the car.......
Would be good to electrify the body of our Commodores, kind of like a theft deterrent/immobiliser. 240 volts should do the trick....

Scum indeed. Is there anywhere you can install a sensor light over your car? It's cheap and would make them think twice.

I'm all for open season on w4nkers like that!

Heaps sorry to hear that some low life did that to your car and caused you the head f*ck of replacing those indicators. Maybe they'll come back and you can take care of the issue... It just will take the cops anywhere between 20 minutes to an hour to respond with a patrol vehicle.

I was unlucky too: We had a scumbag taking petty things from my neighbours cars in our neighbourhood. I never had any dramas with this until one night I could hear the sounds of trespass in my backyard at 2am years ago. Crept out with a big rubber mallet in hand and went boo as loud as I could. The scumbag trespasser got such a fright and ran into one of the pergola posts nearly knocking himself out. I can't recall what happened after that. He must have been local too and the area is pish posh. Go figure...

I think he came back months later to try and steal my car and didn't expect the reversed thumb tacks on the door handles I had taped inconspicuously using double side tape (what a great product!). No one's tried to steal my car or break into my property since. In hindsight I'm glad he didn't kick in my panels or spill brake fluid on the roof. Still, I had a good laugh hearing the scum bag yelling "OOOWWWWW FARRRRK!" at 4 am in the morning when he reached for the door handle. My neighbours also appreciate this as their cars and property are safer now.

Just remember: don't leave valuables in your vehicle and keep things like sunglasses, coins, chewies, ciggys etc out of view. Scum bags will go for a half eaten Mars bar if you leave that in plain view.
