battery indicator in green(good) most time ill turn ignition on and for a few seconds i get nothing, then it turns over . sometimes sounding as though its struggling , is it the starter?
does it rumble a bit in the ass when it does start? if so its the fuel pump.
Starin at the world through my rearview
Go on baby scream to God, he can't hear you
I can feel your heart beatin fast cause it's time to die
Gettin high, watchin time fly
Fuel pump won't stop the engine cranking. Either starter motor or battery, despite the green indication. Stick a multimeter on it, before cranking, during cranking and while running and post up what volts you get.
I used to work at century batteries so i can help shine some light on this, you battery should be reading between 12 and 13v with the engine off, if you test the battery while you are cranking the engine the voltage should not go below 11V max, if it does then chances are your battery is dead/dying,
Check that all the cell plates are not dry and exposed and if so you will need to top up with distilled water (just covering the plates) and place the battery on a charger overnight.
I also read somewhere that slow crank speeds can be a common issue related to bad/corroded wiring high resistance start solenoids/starter motors etc...
Had the same problem ,turned out that the nut on the starter motor that holds the thick cable from the battery was loose buy a couple of turns .You can access it from the passenger side with the bonnet open . Just grab the cable where its bolted to the starter motor and see if its tight .
there are three types of people in the world , those who can count and those who can't
Could be burned out solenoid on the starter motor very common on a commodore.
Check for voltage drop and high resistance on the thick power cable from the starter to battery.
Check your earth points on the engine block.
Good luck
cheers guys at an auto electician check it and he said starter is the prob i got a recon one from the wrecker for 60 bucks and am putting it in now. while getting it off i noticed the nut that was on the solenoid was fused on, it ended up just snapping off, the wire that plugs onto the starter, had a very brittle connector , im not sure if this had any thing to do with the problem thoughill have to tape it up as i dont have anything to replace it with .
all done now and starts sweet as , big weight off my mind thanks for the advice guys
yeah thanks mate , appeciate it :-)
