    Default Mouse in my car!

well do i have a predicament for you fellas

last few days ive been granny driving my SS around, and over small bumps, speedhumps, etc. my car makes a noise that sounds like a mouse. Hard to explain, but its like a "meep" noise. now ive pinpointed it from inside the cabin, so it isnt suspension, brakes etc.

it appears to be coming from behind the PSI gauges for my airbag install. but other times it sounds like its coming from the steering column. anyone had this noise?

i assume that it could be the metal componants behind the switchboard (my globes have stopped working? could be related, but ive only noticed the noise in the last 2-3 days). But it throws me off how i can sometimes here it from the steering column.

If it helps anyone, when i go over speedhumps it only makes the noise when the front wheels go over, not the rear wheels.

    cheers dylan

Could be, easiest way to describe it would be a squeaky noise, like metal on metal?

I know its opposite to what your suggesting but my door trims sqeeked a bit once over small bumps till i gave em a good clean may been build up of wax from washing or something anyway, could possibly be worth a thought if you wasnt conscious of that, jus tryn help.

Easiest way to tell if it is a mouse is to make loud noises in the car (thump something) while it is turned off, if it is a mouse then it should move around make noise, also it should smell too. I would get a couple of mates drive through a carpark with the windows down and see if anyone hears anything.

If a couple of mouse traps (with cheese of course) don't help, the following may be of assistance:

Body Noises - Some VX's may have a creak noise from behind the instrument panel, especially when travelling over bumps. This may be caused by a metal tab located on the fire wall, which can rub against the under side of the plenum chamber (aka windscreen wiper area). A revised fire wall panel with an insulating pad added between the fire wall panel and plenum chamber panel, has been fitted to vehicles from Feb 2001 onwards.
