if not how do you reset the kick panel computer , ive seen the trip resets but wondering if you can reset the main one or not, thanks heaps , also if the ABS module is stuffed could that affect the idleing and running of the motor , like serges and stuff ? cheers
That is the engine computer behind the panel and the way to reset it is to disconnect the battery for a few minutes.
I doubt the a faulty ABS module would cause your problem.

thanx very much mate , reason why i asked about the ABS module is because i also have 5 or so dash lights and alarm signals going of at me while driving , so i was wondering if they were all from the same problem ,
Sometimes cleaning the contacts of the electrical connector can fix the warning lights problem. Use a spray can of electrical contact cleaner available from Jaycar or Dick Smith and spray the connectors on the module and plug. If it doesn't fix it then you will need a new module. You won't need the who thing just the black plastic part.

awsome mate thanks heaps
If it's an LS1 we're talking about, the computer behind the kick panel is not the engine management computer - that's under the bonnet on the LHS. I think it's the engine computer <> BCM interface module and the traction control module behind the LH kick panel.
ABS module can certainly cause the dash to go crazy, I'd be surprised if it could affect engine running.
You are quite right, after checking my service CD I see that the PCM/ECU is in the engine compartment. I had no idea and just assumed it was the same as the V6. Sorry for any misinformation but the resetting procedure would still be the same. I was wondering what that black box in the engine bay was, now I know.
