    Default VX Map Pocket

Does anyone know if I purchase a VY/VZ Map Pocket, will these fit on a VX Series II Executive?

I understand I would need to buy the clips, but I am just talking the actual fabric part, etc.

Why do you want to purchase the whole pocket? Has the old one been damaged? You can do away with the clips and substitute bolts with nuts. There are posts on how to do this. The only tricky bit is getting the elastic around both the bolts but it fairly simple in the end.

Wait how do you do this? My map pocket clips are broken off and Holden will only sell the clips with new pockets, so now my pockets are hanging off.

I bought the clips from Holden without the pocket. This was a few years ago and things might have changed but try a different dealer.

So you can only buy them from the holden dealers still? Any idea on the rough cost? I saw old threads about the map pockets, people were mentioning $30 and $40 costs... I checked Ebay, there's nothing there. A quick google search found found them online at Holmart for $95 each! Ouch!

(New Genuine) VT & VX SER1 GRAY MAP POCKET L=R

Surely you can buy them much cheaper than this!!! I need a pair, both of mine have been ripped off (ugggh kids).

    Hi again guys,

I managed to pick up a set of new map pockets for $55 each.... bargain, and then some new clips as well. The guy sold me the VXII ones, which are black in colour (the older ones are grey). The colour exactly matches my broken ones, but the plastic bits on the back are totally different! The new ones won't install onto the seat backs!!!! Aaaargh

Now I have to go return them and get my money back

This is the post by Jeff on 21.7.2007 on ls1.com.au on how to fix these pockets at a zero cost and make sure they don't come undone again (which replacing the pockets and the original clips doesn't guarantee).

To anyone who is still following this thread, I repaired the passenger side map pocket on the weekend on my VX "S"
As has been said, pull on the seat back from the bottom to break the clips.
The lumbar support knob is actually housed in the side of the seat back- if you juggle it, the knob slips off the lumbar support adjuster and stays with the back.
Once off, you can see the broken plastic screw boss. Remove the remaining three screws and two metal clips (lever them up evenly, they will come off) that hold the map pocket on.
Remove the "U" shaped plastic with the vinyl cover.
At the end where the broken screw boss was, remove the staple holding the vinyl and unfold it to reveal the end of the seam that holds the elastic.
Drill a hole through the plastic frame where the screw used to go, and thread in a bolt - long enough to go through the plastic frame and the seat back. Thread it from "inside" the map pocket so the threaded part is inside the seat back. Don't worry if it appears too long, it is behind a steel frame when the seat back is in place.
If your map pocket has sagged it is because the elastic has been released when the screw boss let go.
The elastic is about 20mm wide and "slack" it's about half the width of the map pocket.
To retrieve/retension the elastic, use a piece of wire and bend a barb in one end. Feed this in the end of the seam and you will hook the end of the elastic. It's easier than it sounds. The elastic has a 5mm hole in the end.
Once snagged, pull it out by holding the other side of the "U" (mounting the broken side of the "U" in a vise helps) and stretch it around the end of the "U" and hook it over the new bolt.
Fold the vinyl back over the bolt/"U" frame, (No need to restaple it - the bolt holds it in place), and refit the map pocket to the seat back, using the remaining three screws, two clips and the new bolt.
As for replacing the seat back, I did mine when the shops were shut, so I used some fine nylon rope, jammed under the (now broken) clips, and threaded though the holes in the seat frame that the clips originally mounted in. I then refited the seat back and pulled the rope tight, tying it around the seat back adjuster shaft and tucking the knot up inside the seat back.
Worked for me! and cost nothing.

I can't repair mine... the plastic frame in the map pocket itself has been snapped in multiple places. I don't get it though... I was told the VXII uses the newer map pocket style with the stronger supports, and the new map pockets I bought do have much thicker mounting posts... so it looks like the map pockets on my VXII are the older VT ones? (i.e. the weaker ones that are more prone to breaking). How the hell did that happen?

Will depend on the month your car was built.

I need to replace mine as well, where did you get yours from as I've been quoted $99 each trade price!

Mate buy some sicaflex and stick it back on to the Seat.Try to locate the pins in the original holes.
If you do this neatly no one would ever know the difference.
It is stronger than it ever was.
Just make sure you never want to take them back of lol.
